DETECTIVE ROD DEMERY PROFILES HOW "MURDER CHOSE ME" IN POWERFUL NEW INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY SERIES

(Silver Spring, Md.) - When murder came knocking on his door at only 3 years old, Rod Demery answered and never looked back. In ID's upcoming series MURDER CHOSE ME, Rod Demery reflects on his 14 years as a homicide detective - a destiny he was drawn to after his own mother was murdered. Vowing that no family should be denied justice the way his family was, Demery worked tirelessly on more than 250 homicide cases, achieving a confession and a 100% solve rate in each case where he served as lead detective. In MURDER CHOSE ME, intimate first-person storytelling meets the gritty southern backdrop in Shreveport, La. Each hour-long episode brings viewers through a white-knuckle case, with the 10-part series MURDER CHOSE ME set to premiere on Wednesday, February 15 at 10/9c on Investigation Discovery (ID).

"MURDER CHOSE ME is, stylistically, a departure from anything that has ever appeared on ID, flawlessly weaving Rod's uniquely tragic personal connection to the story of each homicide he solved," said Henry Schleiff, Group President, Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel, and Destination America. "Detective Rod Demery personifies how very impactful and life altering murder is on the victim's loved ones because, in fact, it has shaped his very own mission in life to be a crusader for justice."

Murder has been a part of Rod Demery's life for a long as he can remember. When he was just 3 years old, his mother was murdered. Then, when Demery was in his twenties, his brother was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Instead of succumbing to the cycle, he resolved to do everything in his power not to repeat the mistakes of the past, and pursued a career in criminal justice. In his 14 years with the violent crimes unit, Demery solved or assisted in more than 250 homicide cases - solving each of the 60+ cases on which he was the lead detective. Demery's impressive clearance rate, coupled with his fierce determination and no-holds-barred approach to get a confession, made him a legend in the department - but also a bit of an outsider. Friends, family, and love interests all found themselves playing second fiddle to his detective work. But Demery continues to be driven by his one mission in life: to find justice and resolution for the families of murder victims, just like his own. Demery retired from the Shreveport Police Department in March, 2016, and is currently serving as a special homicide investigator for the district attorney's office.
