Sonar Entertainment Enters Into First-Look TV Deal with Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions

LOS ANGELES - February 22, 2017 - Sonar Entertainment has entered into a first-look deal with Jordan Peele's production company Monkeypaw Productions. The new agreement encompasses all content for television, including digital. The announcement was made today by Thomas Lesinski, CEO, Sonar Entertainment and Jordan Peele.

"Jordan Peele is one of the brightest stars in our business - a true hyphenate - actor, writer, producer and director. We are excited to partner with him and Monkeypaw," said Lesinski. "This collaboration aligns perfectly with Sonar's vision for developing, producing and distributing premium programming with the highest profile talent for a broad, global audience."

Monkeypaw Productions was founded by Peele in 2012. In TV, Monkeypaw produced the Emmy(R) award winning Key & Peele on Comedy Central for its five-season run, and next up will be the Tracy Morgan comedy series at TBS, set for production later this year.

The partnership with Monkeypaw Productions is the latest in a series of first-look deals announced by Sonar. Other Sonar overall producer deals include George Clooney and Grant Heslov's Smokehouse Pictures, and Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey's Team Downey.

Peele and Monkeypaw Productions are represented by CAA, Principato-Young and Jared Levine.

Emmy(R) winner Jordan Peele was the co-star and co-creator of Comedy Central's KEY & PEELE. The hit series garnered over 1 billion online hits, and in addition won a Peabody Award, an American Comedy Award, and earned 12 Emmy nominations during it's five season run. Peele also recurred on the Emmy(R)-winning FX series FARGO and was a series regular on FOX's MADtv and received an Emmy(R)-nomination for his music video Sad Fitty Cent. On the features side, Peele will next release the highly anticipated film GET OUT through Universal and Blumhouse on February 24. In addition to writing, the social thriller marks his directorial debut, and stars Daniel Kaluuya, and Alison Williams. Previously, Peele starred in the New Line feature KEANU alongside Keegan-Michael Key, which Peele also produced and co-wrote with KEY & PEELE writer Alex Rubens.
