Cineflix Media's New Crime Drama Series "Pure" to Make U.S. Debut on Hulu

- Cineflix Rights and Hulu broker first-ever SVOD deal -

Cineflix Media Inc. today announced that Hulu has acquired the exclusive U.S. streaming video on-demand rights to its critically-acclaimed new drama, Pure. Through the new deal, the series will air in the U.S. exclusively on Hulu.

Produced by Two East Productions and Cineflix and commissioned by CBC, the series stars Ryan Robbins (Arrow, The Killing), Alex Paxton-Beesley (Copper), AJ Buckley (CSI: NY, Narcos), Peter Outerbridge (Orphan Black, ReGenesis), and Oscar(R) and Golden Globe(R) nominee Rosie Perez (White Men Can't Jump, Fearless). It recently premiered on CBC (Canada) #1 in its timeslot and more than doubled the ratings of the previous show to become CBC's top new drama.

Pure is the story of a Mennonite pastor trying to protect his family and preserve his faith while battling drug trafficking within his community. Inspired by true events, Pure was created and written by Michael Amo (The Listener) and directed by Ken Girotti (Orphan Black, Vikings), with Cineflix Media Inc.'s SVP of Scripted, Brett Burlock and President, Peter Emerson serving as Executive Producers, along with Girotti and Two East's David MacLeod.

The deal with Hulu was brokered by Cineflix Rights, the distribution division of Cineflix Media Inc., which holds exclusive distribution rights outside of Canada. Pure's compelling plot and riveting performances have already drawn very strong interest abroad following its international launch at MIPTV.

"Pure started with an extremely unique, lean-in premise and has grown into a taut, compulsively-watchable crime drama," said Peter Emerson, President, Cineflix Media Inc. "We could not be more excited about Hulu coming on board and look forward to its launch in the US. With Pure sold to Hulu and Marcella to Netflix, we see a bright and exciting future for Cineflix in the premium-scripted content space."
