AMERICAN IDOL (ABC) - The Alphabet has reportedly locked in a deal with producers FremantleMedia North America and CORE Media Group for the much-ballyhooed revival of the series. Full details about the new season will presumably be revealed at ABC's upfront presentation on May 16. (Variety.com)
COLLECTOR, THE (TNT, New!) - Mark Cullen has sold a potential drama to the cable channel about "the redemptive journey of a man who has to work as an indentured collections expert for an agency specializing in gambling debts in order to pay off his own debts." Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Owen Burke of Gary Sanchez Productions will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
PASSAGE, THE (FOX) - The network has commissioned a second script for the drama project, a character-driven government conspiracy thriller and morphs into a post-apocalyptic saga with vampires. Production on the pilot was postponed back in March. (Deadline.com)
SHARP OBJECTS (HBO) - David Sullivan, Reagan Pasternak, Sydney Sweeney and Hilary Ward have all landed roles on the Gillian Flynn adaptation. Sullivan will play Chris, "an affable local bar owner and a friend of Camille's from their high school days"; with Pasternak as Katie Lacey, "a childhood friend of Camille, but now the ringleader of a group of ex-cheerleaders wives of Wind Gap, Missouri"; Sweeney as Alice, "Camille's young roommate during her stay at a psychiatric hospital"; and Ward as Becca, "an ex-classmate and former cheerleading teammate of Camille."
