With 12 hours in each city and only $35 to spare for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack, will Ali be able to find the spots where he can get the biggest bang for his buck? As Ali seeks out great taste for a good price on this budget-conscious culinary journey, he meets the local chefs at each eatery to learn how they create the most flavorful and affordable fare to prove that delicious dishes do not have to break the bank.

As the son of South Asian immigrants, Ali Khan learned to embrace exotic cuisine at a young age. It was inevitable that his passion for food shaped his professional career, and led him to become BlackBook Magazine's Senior Editor of Los Angeles Dining and Nightlife Guide at age 26. In addition, Ali dedicated his writing skills to several popular lifestyle websites, including Urban Daddy, LA TACO, and was a regular contributor to You Gotta Eat This. In 2015, Ali launched the successful blog series Bang For Your Burger Buck. His passion for all things epicurean combined with his B.A. in Theater Studies from University of Southern California led him to Food Network, where he has appeared as a judge on Chopped and Chopped Junior. When Ali is not traveling the country to discover Cheap Eats, he resides with his wife and son in Austin, Texas.

The streets of Portland, Oregon are lined with cheap craft cuisine at its finest. Ali Khan starts off his day with a tower of waffley goodness, and wiggles his way through a pristine salmon poke bowl. He rolls on to indulge in authentic Spanish churros and wraps it all up in richness with the freshest pasta carbonara.

Ali Khan kicks things off in Alexandria, Virginia with a guilt-free southern fried chicken biscuit for breakfast, then goes way south of the border with a trio of flavor-forward and inventive tacos. At an art deco hot spot straight out of the 1930s, he finds a modern snack - deep fried deviled eggs. He finishes the day off with a rooftop garden to table, bacon gnocchi Bolognese.
