TRAVEL CHANNEL'S JOSH GATES EMBARKS ON A WORLDWIDE EXPEDITION SEARCHING FOR EVIDENCE OF EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE IN FOUR-PART SPECIAL EVENT

'Expedition Unknown: Hunt for Extraterrestrials' Premieres Wednesday, October 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT

NEW YORK (August 22, 2017) - It is mankind's eternal question: are we alone in the universe? Adventurer and explorer Josh Gates sets off on a 50,000-mile, multi-continent quest to find the answer in Travel Channel's spellbinding four-week special event, "Expedition Unknown: Hunt for Extraterrestrials," beginning Wednesday, October 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Gates' out-of-this-world mission takes him on an epic journey across North America, South America, Africa and Europe, searching for evidence of life beyond our planet and the truth behind longstanding extraterrestrial legends.

"This is by far the most extraordinary expedition I've ever been on," said Gates, who also serves as an executive producer. "Like many, I've long been obsessed with the question of whether we're alone in the universe. Now, with incredible access to state-of-the-art scientific facilities, top secret sites and shocking new evidence, we may finally find out. It's an expedition into the ultimate unknown."

Boldly going where no adventurer has gone before, Gates gains exclusive access to locations that may offer extraterrestrial evidence. He explores ancient signs of aliens in remote caves on Easter Island, tests futuristic deep-space telescopes in Chile's Atacama Desert and hunts for meteorite fragments at a crash site in the wilderness of Zimbabwe. Gates also interviews eyewitnesses who claim to have irrefutable evidence of UFOs, goes behind the scenes at NASA's mission control in Texas to connect with astronauts in orbit, travels to the 70th anniversary celebration of the Roswell Incident in New Mexico and hears the very latest from scientists who are bringing us closer than ever to answers.

For fans that can't get enough, a series of after-show specials - "Expedition Unknown: Hunt for Extraterrestrials - The Debrief" - will premiere each week at 10 p.m. ET/PT, immediately following each of the "Expedition Unknown: Hunt for Extraterrestrial" specials. Each hour-long episode will revisit Gates' journey in a candid, behind-the-scenes forum, as Gates and his team dig deeper into their astounding findings, further analyze key evidence and reveal never-before-seen footage from the expedition.
