TRAVEL CHANNEL'S POPULAR 'MYSTERIES AT THE MUSEUM' SPECIALS RETURN WITH NEW EPISODES ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 28 AT 9:00 P.M. ET/PT

NEW YORK (Dec. 1, 2017) - History enthusiast and explorer Don Wildman will venture back into the field to unravel the mysteries of 13 iconic and fascinating tales in new single-topic episodes of "Mysteries at the Museum." The first of the specials, "Race to the Antarctic: Mysteries at the Museum," premieres on Thursday, December 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT and features the incredible survival story of the famed polar explorer and heroic leader Sir Ernest Shackleton and his 27-man crew of the Endurance. Next up is "Andes Rescue: Mysteries at the Museum," which premieres on Thursday, January 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT and spotlights the awe-inspiring story of survival that emerged from a 1972 plane crash in the Andes mountains.

"I'll explore some of the most studied and debated mysteries that continue to fascinate us decades after they occurred," said Wildman. "In many of the specials, I'll visit the actual places or spaces that sparked an uncommon experience, talk with the world's foremost experts to understand `what really happened' and go deep inside museum collections that will forever allow us to study and memorialize these mysteries."

In upcoming specials, Wildman will investigate widely known stories and historic artifacts. He will trek through the ruins of Pompeii to the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius and travel to Egypt in search of Cleopatra's tomb. He also will delve into the true story behind the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln and the man who shot him, John Wilkes Booth. And, from the hidden routes of the Underground Railroad to the truth about Custer's last stand and the secrets behind Al Capone, Bugsy Siegel and more, Wildman is on a mission to tell stories that captivate our imaginations.
