TBS ELEVATES DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVES THOM HINKLE AND JENIFFER KIM

Thom Hinkle Upped to EVP of Original Programming, Jeniffer Kim to SVP of Original Programming

Now Dominating the Comedy Space and Gaining Momentum, TBS Has Topped The Charts With All Nine Of Its New, Original Series Over the Past Two Years

Currently Home to the Top 3 New Cable Comedies in 2017; Original Programming Driving Critical Acclaim, Linear and Digital Audience Growth & Ongoing Success of Top Rated, Rebranded Cable Network

DECEMBER 04, 2017 - TBS, a division of Turner, today announced the promotions of Thom Hinkle to executive vice president of original programming and Jeniffer Kim to senior vice president of original programming for TBS. They will continue to report into Brett Weitz, executive vice president of programming for TBS. This programming executive trio has cultivated and continues to maintain an epic run of seven consecutive hit scripted original series (all of which have been renewed), the #1 new comedy (The Guest Book), #1 talk show in the youngest demo (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee), 5 top 20 comedies on television (The Guest Book, Wrecked, Full Frontal, The Detour and American Dad), and beloved critical darling Search Party, while maintaining TBS' standing as the #2 entertainment network on cable.

"Thom and Jen have had a tremendous impact on TBS' success and I couldn't imagine better partners, or a better team, in this business. Thom's passion and instincts are second-to-none, and Jeniffer's creativity and dedication continue to drive us forward. Everything they've dished out in the past two years has topped the charts and transitioned TBS into a comedy powerhouse," said Weitz, executive vice president of programming for TBS. "It would be nice to stand outside of their shadows once in a while."

"The TBS team under Brett's leadership has simply crushed it and Thom and Jen have been central to that success. Thom is the rare, creative executive who brings an inspired, imaginative spark in his own right, while now managing a full slate of projects. Jen is also unique in that her level of enthusiasm and artistic advocacy she has sustained over 10 years is remarkable," said Kevin Reilly, president of TBS and TNT and chief creative officer of Turner Entertainment. "While I don't particularly like Thom personally, Jen is an absolute delight."

TBS has rapidly transitioned to a destination for original programming marked by a bold, comedic sensibility that consecutively generates top-rated shows. At the helm of that change, Weitz, Hinkle and Kim will continue to lead TBS' expansion of original shows across all platforms.

Hinkle was instrumental in bringing Daily Show stars Samantha Bee and Jason Jones to the network, resulting in the hit-scripted comedy The Detour and the Emmy-winning Full Frontal With Samantha Bee. Based in Los Angeles, Hinkle joined TBS in October 2013 as vice president of original programming, and upped to senior vice president in late 2014. Since then, he has helped transform the network with highly-rated and award-winning shows, including Angie Tribeca, starring Rashida Jones and created by Steve and Nancy Carell, and Search Party, starring Alia Shawkat and executive produced by Michael Showalter.

Kim originally joined TBS in July of 2006 as manager of comedy development where she worked on the development of potential and current series. Kim's ongoing contributions to the network resulted in multiple promotions from senior manager in 2008 to vice president of original programming in 2016. Most recently, Kim developed the scripted comedies Angie Tribeca, The Detour, Wrecked, Search Party and People of Earth alongside Hinkle and continues to oversee the current production of Seth MacFarlane's American Dad.

Weitz joined Turner Broadcasting in 2009 to work on original series development for TNT. He developed several hit dramas for the network, including Rizzoli & Isles and Falling Skies. His other credits included the multi-season dramas Dallas, Perception and Franklin & Bash. He was tapped by TBS and TNT President Kevin Reilly in 2015 to oversee TBS original programming. In his expanded role Weitz now oversees all programming for the network.
