EMPIRE/STAR (FOX) - Director Bille Woodruff, a staple on both series for the past year, has signed a two-year overall deal with producer 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)
GIRL WAITS WITH GUN (Amazon, New!) - Jennifer Crittenden and Gabrielle Allan are spearheading a small screen take on Amy Stewart's bestselling book, "inspired by the true story of Constance Kopp who, years before women had the right to vote, own property or even wear pants, became the first female sheriff in the United States in 1914." The drama is set up at Warner Bros. TV-based Brownstone Productions and Amazon Studios with the former's Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
LETHAL WEAPON (FOX) - Clayne Crawford has responded to yesterday's reports about various incidents involving the actor on the series. In an Instagram post, Crawford confirmed he has been reprimanded twice in the past season and is "incredibly sorry if my passion for doing good work has ever made anyone feel less than comfortable on the set, or feel less than celebrated for their efforts." (@ClayneCrawford)
MAD ABOUT YOU (TBD) - Sony Pictures TV has tapped Peter Tolan to oversee the show's revival, which is currently being shopped to networks. In the new installment, "20 years after we last saw them, Paul (Paul Reiser) and Jamie (Helen Hunt) Buchman navigate their marriage, the trials of middle age, and their unpredictable, hard-to-control daughter Mabel." Original creator Danny Jacobson is expected to serve as a consultant. (Deadline.com)
PATH, THE (Hulu) - Co-star Aaron Paul was among the various auspices to confirm the series' cancellation on social media: "Sad to say that The Path has ended. Can't thank @hulu enough for making this happen for all of us. What a gift these past three years have been. To everyone who tuned in for these three beautiful season...thank you. We appreciate your love and support. Love and light." (@aaronpaul_8)
SHRILL (Hulu, New!) - Lindy West is looking to bring her memoir, subtitled "Notes from a Loud Woman," to the small screen as a single-camera comedy starring "Saturday Night Live's" Aidy Bryant. West, Bryant and Ali Rushfield are also co-writing the script, which is "described as the story of a fat young woman who wants to change her life, but not her body." Broadway Video's Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer and Warner Bros. TV-based Brownstone Productions' Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman also serve as executive producers. (THR.com)
