EUPHORIA (HBO) - Zendaya, Storm Reid, Maude Apatow, Brian "Astro" Bradley, Eric Dane, Angus Cloud, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Hunter Schafer and Sydney Sweeney have been tapped for the principal roles in the drama pilot, "the story of drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship as told by a lying, drug-addicted 17-year-old girl named Rue, to be played by Zendaya." Co-executive producer Augustine Frizzell is directing from a script by Sam Levinson based on the Israeli series. (Deadline.com)
LORENA/THE HUNT (Amazon) - Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions has signed a first-look television deal with Amazon Studios. The pact gives the company first crack at his company's small screen output. Peele already has the drama "The Hunt" and the docu-series "Lorena" in the works at the streaming service. (Deadline.com)
MOTHERLAND (Freeform) - Eliot Laurence's long-in-the-works drama has received a pilot order from the cable channel. The logline: "Set in an alternate America where witches ended their persecution 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the U.S. government to fight for their country, the series follows three young women from basic training in combat magic into early deployment at Fort Salem. In this world, the traditional roles of gender and power are flipped with the more dominant women on the front lines fighting looming terrorist threats that are familiar to our world, but with tactics and weapons supernatural." Steve Adelson is set to direct while Gary Sanchez Productions' Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Kevin Messick also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
PIPPA SMITH: GROWN-UP DETECTIVE (Freeform, New!) - Siobhan Thompson and Rebecca Drysdale are developing a half-hour comedy series at the network "that follows Pippa Smith, a twenty-something former kid sleuth, as she deals with relationships, addiction and being too dang old for the detecting game." Drysdale, Joss Whedon and Big Breakfast's Drew Buckley, Jillian Vogel and Sam Reich are the executive producers with Thompson co-executive producing. (Deadline.com)
QUEEN AMERICA (Facebook Watch) - Alethea Jones (Fun Mom Dinner) has been tapped to direct all 10 episodes of the Catherine Zeta-Jones-led comedy series. (Deadline.com)
TELL ME A STORY (CBSAA) - Danielle Campbell has signed onto the upcoming drama as Kayla: "Beautiful and full of anger, Kayla has just moved from Oakland to New York with her dad. She lost her mother a year ago and since then has strayed from her once promising path - hanging with the wrong crowd, partying... anything to distract from the pain and grief of her mother's death." (Deadline.com)
UNDERGROUND RAILROAD, THE (Amazon) - The 11-episode limited series, from Oscar-winner Barry Jenkins, has received a formal green light by the streaming service. Jenkins will helm each installment. (Deadline.com)
