ALL AMERICAN/ARROW/BLACK LIGHTNING/BLINDSPOT/THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA/DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW/DOOM PATROL/THE FLASH/GOD FRIENDED ME/THE RED LINE/RIVERDALE/SUPERGIRL/TITANS/YOU (Various) - Greg Berlanti has inked an extension of his overall development and production deal with Warner Bros. Television that would keep him at the studio through 2024, valued at more than $300 million. Berlanti Productions is home to a record 14 live-action scripted series currently in various stages of production. (Deadline.com)
ARE YOU SLEEPING (Apple) - Lizzy Caplan is set to star opposite star Octavia Spencer in the 10-episode thriller drama series as "twin sisters Josie and Lanie, whose lives have taken very different paths." Spencer plays "the investigative reporter behind a hit true-crime podcast that reopens the case of Josie and Lanie's father's murder." (Deadline.com)
HASAN MINHAJ TALK SHOW (Netflix) - Jim Margolis has signed onto the upcoming Hasan Minhaj-hosted talk show as showrunner. (Deadline.com)
HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER (ABC) - Rome Flynn's mystery character Gabriel Maddox has been promoted to a series regular for the show's fifth season. (Deadline.com)
MESSIAH (Netflix) - The upcoming drama has rounded out its principal cast: Melinda Page Hamilton is Anna Iguero, "the Virginia-born daughter of a preacher, who married a preacher"; Stefania LaVie Owen is Rebecca Iguero, "a troubled teen living in a backwater Texas town who wants nothing more than to leave her life behind."; Jane Adams plays Miriam Keneally, "an acerbic CNN reporter who is doggedly devoted to unearthing the truth about al-Masih (Mehdi Dehbi)"; Sayyid El Alami is Jibril Medina, "an orphaned Syrian refugee who leaves war-torn Damascus to become a devotee of al-Masih in the hope the stranger leads him to his destiny"; Fares Landousil plays Samir, "a Syrian refugee and friend to Jibril who also abandons Damascus, only to find that his destiny is elsewhere"; and Wil Traval is Will Mathers, "an Army veteran-turned-FBI JTTF agent who finds himself at loggerheads with his CIA counterpart Eva Geller (Michelle Monaghan) as they are thrown together in the pursuit of al-Masih." Additionally, Barbara Eve Harris will recur as Katherine Bailey, "Geller's level-headed boss and confidante"; Iqbal Theba is Danny Kirmani, "Under Secretary for the Middle East"; Nicole Rose Scimeca is Raeah Hardwick, "a mortally ill child who goes on a pilgrimage with her mother, Staci (Emily Kinney)"; and Jackson Hurst is Jonah Hardwick, "Staci's husband and Raeah's father." REAL WORLD, THE (MTV) - Bunim-Murray Productions is reportedly looking to "reboot/reinvent" the reality staple for streaming platforms. The news would spell the end of the show's 32 season run on MTV from 1992 to 2017. (Deadline.com)
SHANTARAM (Apple, New!) - A drama series based on Gregory David Roberts's best-selling novel - "set in Australia and India about love, forgiveness, courage and redemption" - (as well as its sequel novel "The Mountain Shadow") has found a home at the company where it will be developed for straight-to-series consideration. Eric Warren Singer is spearheading the adaptation for Anonymous Content and Paramount Television with David Manson, Nicole Clemens, Steve Golin and Andrea Barron also among the executive producers.
