Netflix and Jason Bateman's Production Banner, Aggregate, Enter Into a Multi-Year Overall Deal For Film and Television

Michael Costigan partners with Bateman to co-head Aggregate

Hollywood, Calif., (July 10, 2018) -- Actor, Director, Producer Jason Bateman and Netflix have cemented their creative partnership as Aggregate, Bateman's production company, solidifies a first-look, multi-year deal across film and television.

Bateman has partnered with well-respected, veteran producer and executive Michael Costigan (American Gangster, A Bigger Splash, Out of the Furnace, Ghost in the Shell) to form a new, shared vision under the Aggregate name. Bateman and Costigan will combine their respective film and television slates, and also work closely together to develop and produce future projects that draw on both emerging talent and their deep bench of filmmaker and actor relationships.

Bateman has had a long relationship with Netflix, currently serving as a director, executive producer and star of the Netflix original drama series Ozark. Season 2 of the acclaimed series will premiere Friday, August 31. In 2013, Bateman reprised his irreverent portrayal of Michael Bluth in the Mitch Hurwitz-created, multi-award-winning comedy series Arrested Development when Netflix revived the show. Previously Bateman was honored with a Golden Globe Award in 2004 for Best Actor in a Comedy Series and earned an Emmy Award nomination and two Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for his Arrested Development role. The first eight episodes of Season five of the popular series recently launched on Netflix with the remaining eight to launch by the end of 2018.

TED SARANDOS QUOTE: "I am excited to continue our long relationship with Jason and watch him excel not only as a talented actor and filmmaker, but also as a producer. We are looking to Aggregate as a major supplier for us here at Netflix. Cindy, Scott and I look forward to merging our vision and goals for the future in film and TV alongside Aggregate's. The combination of Jason and Michael brings an impressive history of industry experience and relationships here to their new home."

BATEMAN QUOTE: "Michael and I are incredibly fortunate that Aggregate has been welcomed into the Netflix fold. Through my experience with ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT and now OZARK, I have seen first-hand the positive, thriving culture that Ted, Cindy and Scott have created. We look forward to working hard with their dedicated and creative teams to contribute to the enormous momentum and high quality content that Netflix delivers."

ABOUT MICHAEL COSTIGAN:

Producer MICHAEL COSTIGAN began his career at Sony Pictures, where he oversaw the development and production of over twenty films including Milos Forman's Academy Award(R)-nominated THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT; James Mangold's GIRL, INTERRUPTED; McG's CHARLIE'S ANGELS; Guy Ritchie's SNATCH; Gus Van Sant's TO DIE FOR and Wes Anderson's debut feature BOTTLE ROCKET.

He made the transition to producing movies with the Academy Award nominated film BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. Costigan joined Ridley and Tony Scott's production company, Scott Free in 2005 as President, and oversaw, produced and executive produced more than 15 films including AMERICAN GANGSTER, PROMETHEUS, THE COUNSELOR, BODY OF LIES and Scott Cooper's acclaimed OUT OF THE FURNACE.

Costigan launched his own production banner COTA FILMS, under which he produced A BIGGER SPLASH, directed by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name), GHOST IN THE SHELL, directed by Rupert Sanders, and WOODSHOCK, the debut film of Laura and Kate Mulleavy for A24. Costigan most recently wrapped production on DUMPLIN', directed by Anne Fletcher, starring Jennifer Aniston and Danielle MacDonald, and EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL AND VILE, which tells the story of Ted Bundy through the eyes of his unknowing long-term girlfriend, and stars Zac Efron, Lily Collins, and John Malkovich.
