REMEDY (FOX, New!) - Katie Lovejoy has sold a new drama to the network about Remedy Shaw, "a young female medical professional with a rare neurological condition that allows her to literally feel her patient's pain. As she enters the impersonal, evidence-based medical system for the first time, she discovers that her unique ability to empathize with patients allows her to do more than cure sickness; it heals people. And in the process, she may even heal herself." The project, which has a penalty attached, is set up at the 20th Century Fox TV-based Vendetta Productions with Sheldon Turner and Jennifer Klein also executive producing. Said effort is inspired by the life of consulting producer Megan Pohlmann, "who has mirror-touch synesthesia, an extremely rare neurological condition that enables people to feel others' emotions and physical pain." (Deadline.com)
SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL (FOX, New!) - Robert Specland has booked a potential drama at the network about "a tight-knit group of Washington D.C. cops with focus on the wildest, most dangerous shift of the week, giving us an in-depth look at the police force from the top down, Lieutenant to rookies, and how a job like this affects each of their lives, and their lives affect the job." Marc Platt and Adam Siegel's 20th Century Fox TV-based Marc Platt Productions is behind the hour, which has a penalty attached. (Deadline.com)
SUITS (USA) - Sasha Roiz has scored a recurring role on the veteran drama as Thomas Kessler, "the handsome and charming CEO of a high-end furniture design company that has been a longtime client of Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams. THIS IS US (NBC) - Co-star Sterling K. Brown has signed a producing deal with 20th Century Fox Television, home to his NBC series. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED ISAAC WRIGHT, JR. PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Hank Steinberg is developing a new drama at the Alphabet inspired by the true story of Isaac Wright, Jr., "once wrongfully convicted as the kingpin behind one of the largest drug distribution networks in New Jersey, who now practices law in the same courtroom where he was sentenced to life behind bars. In prison, Wright studied the law and worked as a proxy-lawyer, writing briefs and motions to overturn the convictions of over 20 fellow inmates and ultimately to exonerate himself. He now works as a lawyer defending the wrongly accused and going after corrupt institutions." Steinberg, Wright, G-Unit Film & Television's Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and Doug Robinson Productions' Doug Robinson and Alison Greenspan are the executive producers for Sony Pictures Television. Said project presumably pre-dates G-Unit's exclusive pact with Starz. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED MIDDLE SPIN-OFF PROJECT (ABC) - Chris Diamantopoulos and Aaron Branch have both been cast in the Eden Sher-led spin-off, which sees Sue "leaving Indiana to pursue a career (and young adulthood) in Chicago [where she] quickly takes a job working at a fancy hotel." VANGUARD (Starz, New!) - David Graziano has sold a new drama to the pay channel which follows the story of Blake Megaton, "a recent ex-Navy SEAL, who is forced to return home to Long Beach and face his gangster beginnings in order to defend his family's criminal trucking empire from the violent drug cartel that is now trying to wipe it out." G-Unit Film & Television's Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson will also executive produce. (Variety.com)
