BENEDICT MEN (Quibi, New!) - Stephen Curry's Unanimous Media has sold a new reality series to the short-form video platform, which "will take an inside look at one of the most unique high school basketball teams in America at St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, New Jersey." Whistle and Entertainment 360 are also behind the project with Curry, Mark Ciardi, Jonathan Hock, Jeron Smith and Erick Peyton serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
EDGE OF SEVENTEEN (YouTube) - Isabelle Fuhrman and Liana Liberato have been tapped for the lead roles on the feature-film-turned-drama pilot. Fuhrman will play Mira, "a whip-smart underachiever trying to survive high school until the moment she can escape her hometown and loving, but messy, family. Socially, she's a floater, along with her best friend Lou (Liberato). A clique of two. But when things start to shift in their friendship, Mira will have to search her world for other connections to help her endure her seemingly endless adolescence." Production is set to begin in January in Los Angeles. Hailee Steinfeld toplined the 2016 movie as Nadine. (THR.com)
GANGS OF LONDON (Cinemax) - Joe Cole and Sope Dirisu are set to star in the 10-part series, a complex, contemporary and visually stunning journey into the hidden heart of the world's most dynamic multicultural capital and the turbulent power struggles between the international gangs that control it. Also cast in unspecified roles are Lucian Msamati, Michelle Fairley, Mark Lewis Jones, Narges Rashidi, Jing Lusi, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Brian Vernel, Orli Shuka, Richard Harrington, Jude Akuwidike and Emmett J. GRAND HOTEL (ABC) - Katey Sagal and Freddie Stroma are both set to recur on the midseason drama. She'll play Teresa, "an investor in the hotel with mysterious intentions"; while he's set as Oliver, "the associate manager of the Finn Hotel in Miami." (Deadline.com)
HOW THEY MADE HER (Quibi, New!) - Director Catherine Hardwicke and writers Jeffrey Lieber and Charlie McDonnell have set up a potential drama at the new streaming service. No details were given other than it is "a thriller about an AI character." (Variety.com)
NEW YORK UNDERCOVER (ABC, New!) - Ben Watkins is in talks with the Alphabet for a reboot of Dick Wolf and Kevin Arkadie's former 1990s FOX staple, which starred Malik Yoba and Michael DeLorenzo as two undercover detectives in New York City's Fourth Precinct. ABC Studios and Universal Television are co-producing the project with Wolf Entertainment's Wolf, Arthur Forney and Peter Jankowski likewise executive producing. No plot specifics however were given.
