AMERICAN SOUL (BET) - Michelle Williams, Bobby Brown, Gabrielle Dennis, McKinley Freeman and K. Michelle are all set to guest on the Don Cornelius period drama, which premieres Tuesday, February 5. Williams will play Diana Ross; with Brown as Rufus Thomas; Dennis as Tina Turner; Freeman as Ike Turner; and Michelle as Martha Reeves. (Deadline.com)
ENEMY WITHIN, THE (NBC) - Robert Gossett is set for a recurring role on the newcomer as Thomas Heffron, "the dignified, yet grief-stricken father of Will Keaton's (Morris Chestnut) murdered fiancee Laine. Heffron is as close to a father figure as Keaton has ever had in his life, and while the two men are bonded by their shared loss, Heffron struggles to accept Keaton's willingness to work with former CIA agent, Erica Shepherd (Jennifer Carpenter), the person responsible for his daughter's death." MARLON/MIDNIGHT, TEXAS (NBC) - The Peacock has pulled the plug on both series after two seasons. Options on both casts were set to expire shortly. Universal Television reportedly plans to shop the latter series elsewhere. (Deadline.com)
WHAT/IF (Netflix) - Tyler Ross, Derek Smith, Nana Ghana, Monique Kim and Marissa Cuevas have all scored yet-to-be-revealed roles on the upcoming Renee Zellweger-led drama series. (Deadline.com)
Z NATION (Syfy) - Executive producer David Michael Latt took to social media on Friday to announce the series will not return for a sixth season. Next week's installment will serve as its de facto finale. (@DavidMLatt)
