AVENUE 5 (HBO) - Himesh Patel has been cast in Armando Iannucci's upcoming comedy as Jordan Hatwal, "a young stand-up who is just starting out. When he's offered an eight-week-long residency on Judd Galaxy's inaugural luxury cruise around Saturn he jumps at the chance to declare himself, 'The Funniest Man in the Universe.'" (Deadline.com)
CHAMBERS (Netflix) - The streaming service has pulled the plug on the series after one season. "'Chambers' will not return for a second season," the network said in a statement. "We're grateful to creator and showrunner Leah Rachel for bringing this story to us and to her fellow executive producers Alfonso Gomez Rejon, Steve Gaghan from Super Emotional, Winnie Kemp and Wolfgang Hammer from Super Deluxe, and Jennifer Yale. We're also thankful to the tireless crew, and to our incredible cast, especially Uma Thurman, Tony Goldwyn and talented newcomer Sivan Alyra Rose." (Deadline.com)
DICKS (USA, New!) - Writer Heather V. Regnier and director Susanna Fogel (The Spy Who Dumped Me) are set to team for a potential drama at the cable channel about Phyllis Roarke, "who returns home to Los Angeles after she is fired from her job at the White House, only to have her government-issued cell phone stolen by a gang at a house party. To get it back, she must reconnect with her two estranged best friends from high school, and as de facto private investigators - aka, dicks - they stumble into a citywide conspiracy involving a notorious mobster, a washed-up screenwriter, and a lemur named Darwin." Spondoolie Productions' Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge and Danielle Stokdyk also on board to executive produce for Warner Horizon Television. Rebecca Franko is a producer. (Deadline.com)
