(Deadline.com)
SWEET MAGNOLIAS (Netflix) - JoAnna Garcia Swisher has signed on to star in the upcoming drama as Maddie Townsend, "a low-key but resolute, warm and loving woman with a vocabulary like Southern poetry. TWENTIES (BET) - Rapper Sean "Big Sean" Anderson has joined the cast of the Lena Waithe's upcoming comedy series. He'll play Tristan: "A student in Nia's yoga class. Tristan is a bit of a Luddite; he doesn't have a cellphone, rejects a lot of modern technology's triumphs, and maybe more of a nut than Nia can handle. In fact, Tristan is not a serial killer who flies under the radar to evade the law, he just believes in leading a natural life without the false dopamine hits that come from selfies and text messages and social media." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED THOMAS JOHN PROJECT (CBSAA, New!) - Celebrity medium Thomas John (Lifetime's "Seatbelt Psychic"), "a former Chicago drag queen who says he is a psychic medium with paranormal abilities," is set to be the focus of an upcoming series on the streaming service.
