West will play Whitney, "a type-A investment banker who never misses a SoulCycle class and is on track to marry the love of her life - if she can forget the other guy she just woke up with. Webb then is Renee, "a walking firecracker of cynicism and in-your-face realness." In addition, Millicent Shelton will helm the half-hour from a script by Leigh Davenport. Also executive producing for the Lionsgate Television-based SisterLee Productions is Yvette Lee Bowser. (Deadline.com)
TED LASSO (Apple TV+, New!) - A comedy based on Jason Sudeikis's Coach Ted Lasso character from the NBC Sports videos has been given a formal series greenlight by the streaming service. Sudeikis will reprise said role - "an idealistic - and clueless - all-American football coach hired to manage an English football club - despite having no soccer coaching experience at all" - as well as pen the script alongside Bill Lawrence. Brendan Hunt co-stars as Coach Beard. The project comes from the Warner Bros. Television-based Doozer Productions with Sudeikis, Lawrence and Jeff Ingold executive producing, Liza Katzer as a co-executive producer and Hunt as a producer. (Deadline.com)
THIS IS US (NBC) - Austin Abrams will recur on the current season as Marc, "who meets teen Kate (Hannah Zeile) in a record store - and who will play a love interest for the Pearsons' daughter." (THR.com)
TRANSLATOR'S DAUGHTER, THE (NBC, New!) - Thomas Ian Griffith and Mary Page Keller have sold a potential drama to the Peacock about "an American college student who, while interning for the CIA, finds herself torn among the loyalty to her country, the female crime boss protecting her and the young New York detective with whom she's fallen in love." Universal Television-based Hazy Mills Productions is behind the hour with the company's Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
TWO DOLLS, THE (FOX, New!) - Katie Wech has booked her third potential series, this time at FOX. But when they bend the rules, they find themselves in a gauntlet of suspicion and subterfuge that threatens everything they've built - including their friendship." 20th Century Fox Television and FOX Entertainment are behind the hour, which has a penalty attached. Wonderland Sound & Vision's McG, Mary Viola and Corey Marsh will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED SURGEONS PROJECT (Netflix, New!) - The streaming service has commissioned a four-part documentary series from BBC Studios Science Unit "exploring what it takes to become one of the world's leading surgeons."
