ATYPICAL (Netflix) - Allie Rae Treharne will recur on the upcoming season as Gretchen, "a sharp-witted worldeater with the confidence to get what she wants." (Deadline.com)
EMPIRE (FOX) - Co-creator Danny Strong has signed a three-year overall deal with producer 20th Century Fox Television. There he'll develop new series projects for the studio as well as wrap his run on the show's final season, which is being supersized to 20 episodes. (Deadline.com)
FLIGHT ATTENDANT, THE (HBO Max) - Rosie Perez has been cast in the Kaley Cuoco-led thriller as Megan, "Cassie's (Cuoco) friend and perfectionist flight team lead, who is bad at keeping other people's secrets but great at keeping her own." (Deadline.com)
GRAND ARMY (Netflix) - Joshua Donen, Beau Willimon, Jordan Tappis and Nicolette Donen have been confirmed as executive producers on Katie Cappiello's 10-episode series, which is based on her play "Slut." Odessa A'zion (Joey Del Marco), Amalia Yoo (Leila Kwan Zimmer), Maliq Johnson (Jayson Jackson), Amir Bageria (Siddhartha Pakam) and Odley Jean (Dominique Pierre) are set to star. (Deadline.com)
LORD OF THE RINGS, THE (Amazon) - Joseph Mawle is the latest bound for the much-ballyhooed project as "the series' lead villain, Oren, opposite [Will] Poulter's young hero Beldor and female lead Tyra (Markella Kavenagh)." (Deadline.com)
MOTHER-IN-LAW, THE (NBC, New!) - Jessica Goldberg has scored a put pilot commitment from the Peacock for a small screen take on Sally Hepworth's novel, "an unexpected thriller centered around a woman's complicated relationship with her husband's family that ends in death." Universal Television is behind the project with Paper Kite's Amy Poehler and Kate Arend as well as 3 Arts Entertainment's Dave Becky executive producing alongside Goldberg and Hepworth. OLD MAN, THE (FX) - Alia Shawkat has booked a role on the Jeff Bridges-led drama pilot as Angela, "described as a rising star at the FBI. Angela is a protégé to Deputy Director Harold Harper (John Lithgow). Assigned to the pursuit of Chase, Angela is swept into a world of buried secrets and hidden agendas that will put her relationship with Harper to the test." (Variety.com)
PANIC (Amazon) - Enrique Murciano, Camron Jones and Jessica Sula have all joined the upcoming YA drama series. Murciano, will play Sheriff Kean, replacing Will Chase from the original pilot; while Jones will portray Bishop, replacing Kevin Alves; and Sula is Natalie, replacing Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut. They join the previously cast regulars Mike Faist (Dodge Mason); Olivia Welch (Heather); and Ray Nicholson (Ray Hanrahan). Additionally, Bonnie Bedelia will recur as Anne, "Heather's guardian angel"; with Moira Kelly as Laura Kean, "Sheriff Kean's wife"; Nancy McKeon as Jessica Mason, "Dodge's single mom"; and Rachel Bay Jones as Sherri Nill. PRODIGAL SON (FOX) - Meagan Good has booked a recurring role on the freshman series as Colette Swanson, "an FBI agent and criminal profiler who worked alongside Bright during his time at the Bureau where they developed a mutual distrust of each other. She now leads a prominent task force that takes over a case from Bright and his NYPD team." (Deadline.com)
RIVERDALE (The CW) - Ryan Robbins will recur on the current season as Frank Andrews: "a blue collar, former high school football star - tough, brash, and charming. His temper and vices constantly get him into trouble. He's lived in the shadow of Fred (the late Luke Perry), his beloved older brother, since he was born. As a result, Frank joined the Army in search of his own identity. After three tours of duty, Frank Andrews is haunted and in need of a home." (Deadline.com)
SHELLEY SOCIETY, THE (HBO Max, New!) - Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has landed a potential series at the streaming service in which "young author Mary Shelley leads a band of Romantic outlaws-among them, her lovers Percy and Lord Byron-against all manner of supernatural threats and monsters... including Frankenstein author Shelley's own iconic Creature." Aguirre-Sacasa is penning the Warner Bros. Television-based project - which has an order for a pilot and an additional script - alongside Tessa Leigh Williams and James DeWille. (Deadline.com)
SNOWPIERCER (TNT) - Chelsea Harris has landed a recurring role on the series as Sykes: "A covert operative, and the right-hand advisor to an important new leader, Sykes is reserved and coolly efficient. She is well-versed in the dark arts of intelligence and, while she seems loyal, one begins to wonder whether she can be trusted at all." (Deadline.com)
YELLOWJACKETS (Showtime) - Melanie Lynskey is the first to be cast in the drama pilot as Shauna Sheridan, "one a handful of survivors of the plane crash. 25 years later, Shauna is on a mission to reclaim her agency - her life - while doing everything in her power to keep her darkest secrets safe."
