CITADEL/SANGEET (Amazon) - Priyanka Chopra Jonas has signed two-year first-look deal with Amazon Studios. The pact gives the company first crack at her TV output. Already in the works are "Sangeet," an unscripted series co-produced with her husband, Nick Jonas; and "Citadel," Anthony and Joe Russo's spy series in which she'll star with Richard Madden. DEFENDING JACOB (Apple TV+) - Showrunner Mark Bomback has signed a multi-year overall deal with Apple where he'll develop new series projects on an exclusive basis. (Deadline.com)
UNRULY (HBO, New!) - Two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali is attached to play boxing legend Jack Johnson in a six-part limited series at the pay channel billed as a "no-holds-barred telling of Jack Johnson (Ali), the world's first Black Heavyweight Boxing Champion. This bold exploration depicts the champion's rise to athletic greatness and the costs he paid for his skin and defiance, which created a blueprint for Black resistance in every justice movement for generations to come." Dominique Morisseau is penning the project, based the PBS documentary "Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson" and its companion book by Geoffrey C. Ward, with Playtone's Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman; Know Wonder's Ali, Amatus Karim Ali and Mimi Valdés; and Florentine Films' Ken Burns also serving as executive producers and Beau Willimon and Steven Shareshian as co-executive producers.
