BIG BROTHER (CBS) - "Preliminary production prep" has reportedly begun on the show's Los Angeles set for a potential 22nd season this summer. Producers however "still need to receive union and guild approval to sign off on principal photography and filming." (Deadline.com)
BIG LEAP, THE (FOX) - The network has extended the options for all six of its pilots. The drama comes from writer Liz Heldens and director Jason Winer with Sue Naegle likewise executive producing for 20th Century Fox Television and FOX Entertainment. Already cast are Teri Polo (Julia Torrence), Scott Foley (Nick Smart), Ser'Darius Blain (Reggie Sadler), Ray Cham (Justin Reyes), Jon Rudnitsky (Mike Devries) and Simone Recasner (Gabby Taylor). Its logline is as follows: "Inspired by a UK format, THE BIG LEAP is a funny and contemporary tale about second chances, chasing your dreams and taking back what's yours. The show centers on a group of diverse underdogs from all different walks of life who compete to be part of a competition reality series that is putting on a modern, hip remake of "Swan Lake." What they lack in the traditional dancer body type, they make up for with their edge, wit and desire to reimagine an iconic story to fit their own mold. THE BIG LEAP takes us on a journey of self-acceptance, body-positivity and empowerment at any age."
BLOOD RELATIVE (FOX) - The network has extended the options for all six of its pilots. Said effort comes from writers Chris Levinson and James Renner, director Phillip Noyce and fellow executive producer Liza Chasin for Paramount Television Studios, Anonymous Content and FOX Entertainment. Melissa Leo (Louise Kelly), Tate Donovan (John Kelly) and Tyrone Marshall (Brick Doughty) star. Its logline is as follows: "Genetic genealogy is the best new tool in crime scene forensics, and nobody knows it like Louise Kelly. Too bad she's impossible to deal with. Based on James Renner's article "Beyond the Jungle of Bad: The True Story of Two Women from California Who Are Solving All the Mysteries.""
CLEANING LADY, THE (FOX) - The network has extended the options for all six of its pilots. Writer Miranda Kwok and director Michael Offer are spearheading the project, based upon the original Argentine series, with Melissa Carter and Shay Mitchell also executive producing for Warner Bros Television and FOX Entertainment. Elodie Yung (Reyna Salonga), Adan Canto (Arman Morales), Vincent Piazza (Gavin Ross) and Ginger Gonzaga (Fiona Salonga) star. Its logline is as follows: "THE CLEANING LADY is a darkly aspirational character drama about a whip-smart doctor who comes to the U.S. for a medical treatment to save her ailing son. But when the system fails and pushes her into hiding, she refuses to be beaten down and marginalized. Instead, she becomes a cleaning lady for the mob and starts playing the game by her own rules..."
KATY KEENE (The CW) - The network has passed on a second season for the "Riverdale" spin-off series. Warner Bros. Television plans to shop the project elsewhere as the cast remains under option until July 31. (Deadline.com)
OUR KIND OF PEOPLE/UNTITLED COUNTRY MUSIC DYNASTY DRAMA (FOX) - Both previously announced projects remain under consideration for off-cycle development. Karin Gist and Lee Daniels are behind the former, while Melissa London Hilfers is behind the latter.
PIVOTING (FOX) - The network has extended the options for all six of its pilots. Writer Liz Astrof and director Tristram Shapeero are behind the project, with Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor also executive producing for Warner Bros. Television, FOX Entertainment and Kapital Entertainment. Eliza Coupe (Amy), Ginnifer Goodwin (Jodie) and Tommy Dewey (Henry) star. Its logline is as follows: "PIVOTING follows three women after the death of their childhood best friend. Faced with the reality that life is short, in desperate attempts to find happiness, they make a series of impulsive, ill-advised and self-indulgent decisions, strengthening their bond proving it's never too late to screw up your life."
SACRIFICE (BET+) - The streaming service is considering turning the recent Paula Patton-led movie - a legal thriller that tracks a highly sought after entertainment lawyer as she navigates the nefarious lives of her rich and famous clients - into a TV series. The news comes as the original options on the cast have expired with BET Networks "asking them to extend their contracts for six additional weeks without additional pay." Said report adds that "multiple cast members declined to grant extensions with no compensation." The film also starred Erica Ash, Juan Antonio, V. Bozeman, Altonio Jackson, Nelson Bonilla, Michael Toland, James Trevena Brown, Liliana Montenegro, Marques Houston and Josué Ramon Gutierrez (Deadline.com)
THIS COUNTRY (FOX) - The network has extended the options for all six of its pilots. The project comes from writer Jenny Bicks and director Paul Feig with Angie Stephenson, Charlie Cooper and Daisy May Cooper also among the executive producers for Lionsgate, BBC Studios, FOX Entertainment and Feigco Entertainment. The cast includes Seann William Scott (Father Joe), Chelsea Holmes (Kelly Mallet), Sam Straley (Shrub Mallet), Taylor Ortega (Nadine) and Krystal Smith (Big Mandy). Its logline is as follows: "In this half-hour comedy inspired by the BBC format, a documentary crew goes to a small town to study young adults and their current concerns. Their focus is the daily lives of cousins Kelly and Shrub Mallet and their idiosyncratic surroundings. We follow the cousins as they pursue their dreams, confront challenges, and fight each other for frozen pizza. These two don't have much, but they do have each other."
UNTITLED FILM RE-ENACTMENT PROJECT (FOX) - The network has extended the options for all six of its pilots. Warner Bros. Television, FOX Entertainment and Amblin TV are behind the project with writer Sarah Watson, director Greg Mottola and Gail Berman, Lauren Shuler Donner, Richard Donner, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank likewise executive producing. Ramon Rodriguez has already been cast as James "Jax" Jackson. Its logline is as follows: "After failing to make it in New York and carrying a heavy secret with her, Stella Cooper returns to her distressed automotive hometown to substitute teach. She finds inspiration, hope, and ultimately salvation when she agrees to help three students who are pursuing their filmmaking dreams by putting on an impossibly ambitious shot-for-shot remake of one of the student's favorite movies... "The Goonies." Over the course of the season, their passion will inspire a town in desperate need of hope in this love letter to the power of cinema, storytelling, and dreams."
