ATTENTION IDHUNITES: NETFLIX REVEALS THE CHARACTERS OF "THE IDHUN CHRONICLES"

The first Netflix Spanish Original anime series will premiere this year

Madrid, July 29th, 2020 - Netflix has revealed today the first images of the characters of its upcoming Spanish Original anime series, The Idhun Chronicles, which is set to premiere globally later this year. In this clip, Alsan, Jack, Victoria, Shail y Kirtash, the main characters of the story, come to life from the drafts of a notebook.

Written by Laura Gallego and Andrés Carrión, The Idhun Chronicles is an adaptation of The Resistance, the first volume of the namesake bestseller released over 15 years ago, translated to fourteen languages and still a success these days. The project, produced by Zeppelin, is the first Spanish Original anime series by Netflix.

This innovative production, which will be available in over 190 countries, has taken over 2 years to create, and its animation process has been carried out in Vitoria-Gasteiz by a team of around 20 local professionals who have led the task of recreating the world of Idhun and bringing its characters to the screen. Their creativity, combined with the quality of the animation design, have shaped an epic story full of friendship, emotions and action.

The season has 5 episodes and it is directed by Maite Ruiz de Austri, winner of two Goya Awards for Best Animated Film, who becomes the first woman to direct an anime series in Spain.

About The Idhun Chronicles

The day the three Suns and three Moons came together in alignment over Idhun, Ashran, the necromancer, seized power and the reign of the winged snakes started. The first battle for Idhun's freedom takes place on Earth, where Jack and Victoria fight to stop Kirtash, an assassin sent by Ashran to destroy the idhunites who escaped from his tyranny. However, without knowing it Jack and Victoria are part of a prophecy that will intertwine their destinies in a story full of love and hate that will unchain duels to death and also build unexpected alliances.
