BIG D, THE (HBO, New!) - Samantha Buck and Marie Schlingman are developing a new drama at the pay channel "set during a hot and hotly contested summer in Dallas 1980. It follows a triangle of women as their lives collide to unearth a secret past involving the city's would-be First Lady, Pat Pangburn, and her mysterious bout of amnesia." Lily Rabe and Bettina Barrow are the executive producers for Kill Claudio Productions with Buck and Schlingmann as co-executive producers. (Deadline.com)
CHICAGO FIRE (NBC) - Adriyan Rae is the latest addition to the new season as Gianna Mackey, "a lovable troublemaker with a twinkle in her eye [who] comes from a family of working-class parents who are adored by their community." (Deadline.com)
DR. OZ SHOW, THE (Syndication) - The Daytime Emmy-winning series has been renewed for seasons 13 and 14, taking it into 2023. (Deadline.com)
MAID (Netflix) - Anika Noni Rose is bound for the Margaret Qualley/Nick Robinson-led drama as Regina, "an extremely successful family law attorney and Alex's client. The youngest lawyer to make partner at her firm, Regina is powerful, smart and possesses an extreme work ethic and insistent perfectionism that she applies to everything in her life: her house, her marriage, her dog. A woman with exquisite taste, her wealth allows her seemingly to have everything she needs in life. Through the course of the series, we see that there is more than meets the eye, and Regina struggles like everyone else." (Deadline.com)

TOOTHBRUSH (Quibi, New!) - Brittani Nichols has sold a dramedy to the streaming service about Rae: "A queer woman living on the east side of Los Angeles, she struggles to find balance and boundaries with Emma, her ex-girlfriend turned best friend whose apartment she finds herself staying over more often than not." ColorCreative's Issa Rae and Deniese Davis will presumably executive produce along with Ravi Nandan of A24. (Variety.com)
UNTITLED GUY BRANUM PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Comedian Guy Branum is set to star in a semi-autobiographical comedy at the network in which "after his father's death, a gay lawyer (Branum) moves his mom and niece from their small conservative farm town to West Hollywood, upsetting their lives but helping them find a new definition of family." Branum will also pen the single-camera project and executive produce alongside Todd Milliner and Sean Hayes of the Universal Television-based Hazy Mills Productions. (Deadline.com)
WALKER (The CW) - Genevieve Padalecki will recur opposite her husband, Jared Padelecki, on the newcomer as Emily, "Walker's strong, capable and generous late wife who is brave and focused on helping the disenfranchised. Appearing in flashback, Emily is a grounded and authentic hero in the Walker family." (Deadline.com)
WOLF ENTERTAINMENT SERIES (Various) - Production began today on the new season of the Dick Wolf-produced "Law & Order: SVU"; while "Chicago Med" is currently slated to begin filming on September 22. They'll be followed by "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago PD" on October 6 with "FBI" and "FBI: Most Wanted" both likewise returning on said date. No start date was given for "Law & Order: Organized Crime."
