ACOLYTE, THE (Disney+) - Amandla Stenberg is on track to star in the aforementioned "Star Wars" series. No specifics were given about her charater. (Variety.com)
BEYOND THE EDGE (CBS, New!) - The Eye has reportedly completed production in Panama on a new "Survivor"-esque series featuring such celebrities as Colton Underwood, Metta World Peace, Ray Lewis, Jodie Sweetin, Eboni K. Williams and Paulina Porizkova. Renegade 83 Entertainment is behind the project, with the participants receiving money for the charity of their choice. Jeff Probst is expected to be among the executive producers. (Deadline.com, TMZ.com)
CONSULTANT, THE (Amazon) - Brittany O'Grady and Nat Wolff will star opposite Christoph Waltz in the workplace thriller. Wolff will play Craig, "a disillusioned but talented mobile app developer, working for a games studio in Los Angeles." And O'Grady is set as Elaine, "an ambitious assistant to the CEO, who, in the wake of a tragedy, sees an opportunity to accelerate her career." (Deadline.com)
GEORGE & TAMMY (Spectrum) - Steve Zahn has been cast in the limited series as George Richey, "a songwriter, producer and mainstay of the Nashville country music community who married Wynette after she and Jones split up in 1975. Richey managed Wynette until her death in 1998." Production began today in North Carolina. (Deadline.com)
JEOPARDY! (Syndication) - The veteran game show has confirmed Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will continue to share hosting duties through the end of the current 38th season, which concludes airing on July 29, 2022. (Deadline.com)
PICTIONARY (Syndication) - The Jerry O'Connell-hosted series is officially a go for fall 2022 on the Fox Television Stations group following a test run this past summer. David Hurwitz and Noah Bonnett will executive produce for Fox First Run, Bill's Market and Television Production, Mattel Television and CBS Media Ventures with Fred Soulie and Phil Breman as co-executive producers. UNTITLED REGINA HICKS PROJECT (Netflix. New!) - "The Upshaws" co-creator Regina Hicks has signed a multi-year overall deal with the streaming service. There she'll develop new series projects on an exclusive basis. First up: a comedy series that "will focus on the lives of four middle-aged Black women from Houston, TX and explore how they navigate a world of affluence while also balancing the everyday scenarios of women of a certain age." Higher Ground Productions' Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Tonia Davis and Ada Chiaghana will presumably also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
WALKER: INDEPENDENCE (The CW, New!) - Seamus Kevin Fahey and Anna Fricke are spearheading a prequel to the CW series set in the late 1800s: "It follows Abby Walker, an affluent Bostonian whose husband is murdered before her eyes while on their journey out West. On her quest for revenge, Abby crosses paths with Hoyt Rawlins, a lovable rogue in search of purpose. Abby and Hoyt's journey takes them to Independence, Texas, where they encounter diverse, eclectic residents running from their own troubled pasts and chasing their dreams. Our newfound family will struggle with the changing world around them, while becoming agents of change themselves in a town where nothing is what it seems." Jared Padalecki, Laura Terry, Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore will executive produce for Pursued by a Bear, Rideback and CBS Studios. (Deadline.com)
