CAYNE (BET+, New!) - Gregory Poirier has set up a small screen take on Ian K. Smith's novel "The Unspoken" at the streamer, which "tells the story of former Chicago detective and current private eye Ashe Cayne who is desperate for redemption. After refusing to participate in a police department cover-up involving the death of a young black man, Cayne is pushed out of the force. But he won't sit quietly on the sidelines: with his intricate knowledge of Chicago, he will fight for justice for the people of the city he loves... rich and poor, the powerful and the powerless... against criminals, the gangs that rule the streets, crooked cops, and the political machine that runs city hall... even if it means putting himself in jeopardy." Michael Strahan and Constance Schwartz-Morini of SMAC Entertainment will executive produce alongside Poirier, Smith and Scott Lambert. (Deadline.com)
CHICAGO PD (NBC) - Production on the series has "been suspended today after a number of positive Covid tests, including cases in Zone A." Filming is expected to resume in a few days. (Deadline.com)
LIFE GOES ON (NBC, New!) - The proposed sequel series to the 1989-93 drama series has found a home at NBC, which has given it a put pilot commitment. Nkechi Okoro Carroll is behind the project, which "will revisit a grown-up Becca Thatcher, played by [Kellie] Martin, now an accomplished doctor, and her extended family as she returns to her hometown." She'll write and executive produce alongside Rock My Soul Productions' Lindsay Dunn for Warner Bros. Television. Martin and Chad Lowe will both receive producing credits with original series creator Michael Braverman as an executive consultant. (Deadline.com)
MADE FOR LOVE (HBO Max) - Filming is set to resume tomorrow on the series' second season after "production was paused last week after positive Covid test results, including in the central Zone A." (Deadline.com)
MESSAGE FROM THE STATE, A (AMC, New!) - Journalist Olivia Nuzzi has sold a "pitch-black satirical drama" to the cable channel which "follows a young reporter in DC who defects from the mainstream media." Gina Mingacci will also executive the produce for AMC Studios. (Deadline.com)
NATIONAL TREASURE (Disney+) - The Lisette Alexis-led feature-turned-TV series has cast Lyndon Smith as FBI Agent Ross, "top of her class at Quantico"; Zuri Reed as Tasha, "fiercely independent, a social media personality and a tech genius"; Jake Austin Walker as Liam, "a swoon-worthy, struggling musician with a permanent chip on his shoulder who comes from a long line of treasure hunters"; Antonio Cipriano as Oren, "a lovable but self-obsessed goofball with an encyclopedic knowledge of conspiracy theories, sneakers and business"; and Jordan Rodrigues as Ethan, "a Type-A rule-follower." NCIS: HAWAI'I (CBS) - Beulah Koale will guest on a two-part episode of the series as David Sola, "a New Zealand intelligence officer who arrives in Hawai'i to follow a lead in a case that connects Joseph's death to a Chinese black op." (TVLine.com)
