ALPHONSE (Amazon, New!) - Nicolas Bedos has set up a series at Banijay and Prime Video about "a chameleon-like man whose main mission is to please women and satisfy all their wishes." Jean Dujardin will play the title role in the project, which also stars Pierre Arditi, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Nicole Garcia. Montmartre Films' Alain Goldman is also among the auspices. Filming begins in June. (Variety.com)
AVALON (ABC) - Dana Calvo has been tapped as showrunner of the upcoming drama series based on Michael Connelly's short story. She'll also executive produce alongside Connelly, David E. Kelley, Ross Fineman, Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson. (Deadline.com)
CELEBRITY HUNTED - FRANCE - MANHUNT/LOL: QUI RIT, SORT! (Amazon) - The streamer has renewed both unscripted series. (Deadline.com)
COLONY, THE (HBO Max, New!) - Sarita Choudhury is attached to star in a small screen take on the 2018 feature "Stray Dolls" at the streamer, "a suspenseful and darkly humorous twisted family drama, exposing the pressures and tropes facing an immigrant family and what happens when they are dragged into a world of crime." The film's Sonejuhi Sinha and Charlotte Rabate are penning the project with Nicholas Weinstock of Invention Studios and Choudhury likewise executive produce. (Deadline.com)
COSMIC LOVE (Amazon, New!) - ITV Studios France has landed a dating series at the streamer "in which four singles, each representing one of the four Zodiac elements, rely on astrology to meet their match." The project is due later this year. (Deadline.com)
KILLER COASTER (Amazon, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a crime drama "that follows a sloppy cop disavowed by her department who takes on an undercover job selling cotton candy, only to stumble upon a major murder investigation." Nikola Lange and Thomas Mansuy are behind the project, which comes from Vacarme. (Deadline.com)
OURIKA (Amazon, New!) - Clement Godard, Elie Yaffa (aka French rapper Booba), Clément Gournay and Vincent L'Anthoën are set to team for a drama series at the streamer which "follows a drug dealer and a cop who go head-to-head in an urban western set against the backdrop of the 2005 Paris riots." Prelude, part of Vendôme Productions, and 7Scope are the producers. (Deadline.com)
PALOMINO (Netflix) - Evin Ahmad has scored the lead role on the upcoming drama series, about Erin Collantes, "a British teacher in Spain who finds herself caught up in a supermarket robbery. When one of the robbers claims to recognize her, her life threatens to unravel and in Palomino, a town of secrets, she must fight to clear her name and protect her family." (Deadline.com)
POKER FACE (Peacock) - Joseph Gordon-Levitt will star opposite Natasha Lyonne in the yet-be-detailed series which will reportedly "follow a procedural format and see Lyonne's character working to solve different murders in each episode." (Variety.com)
PURE (Peacock, New!) - Heather Regnier is developing a new drama at the streamer which "will chronicle the rise and fall of the relationship between Sarma Melngailis and Anthony Strangis, two people who fulfilled each other's desires to live in a world that existed outside of reality - which ultimately destroyed them." Melngailis and Strangis are the focus of the recent Netflix series "Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives." Weimaraner Republic Pictures and Warner Bros. Television are behind the project, which is based on Allen Salkin's Vanity Fair article "The Runaway Vegan." Lynn Harris and Matti Leshem will also executive producing with Salkin as a consulting producer. (Deadline.com)
