"TOP GUN," PARAMOUNT PICTURES' BLOCKBUSTER FILM OF 1986, TO BE BROADCAST AS THE "CBS SATURDAY NIGHT MOVIE," MAY 14

TOP GUN, the top-grossing film of 1986 from Paramount Pictures, will be broadcast as a CBS SATURDAY NIGHT MOVIE, Saturday, May 14 (8:00-10:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*.

Tom Cruise stars in this iconic - and oft-quoted - film that explores the danger and excitement that awaits each and every pilot at the Navy's prestigious fighter weapons school. Cruise plays Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, a daring young flyer who's out to become the best, and Kelly McGillis portrays Charlie, a civilian instructor who teaches Maverick a few things you can't learn in a classroom. The renowned cast also includes Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards and Meg Ryan. In addition, the film features an award-winning soundtrack.

The film's upcoming sequel, TOP GUN: MAVERICK, in which Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer reprise their roles as Maverick and Iceman, will be released by Paramount Pictures on May 27. The film also stars Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm and Glen Powell.

In the new film, after more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy's top aviators, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign "Rooster," the son of Maverick's late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, a.k.a. "Goose." Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.
