LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

ANIMAL CONTROL (FOX) - Michael Rowland, Grace Palmer, Gerry Dee, Kelli Ogmundson and Alvina August will round out the cast of the comedy series. Rowland will play Fred "Shred" Taylor, "the optimistic rookie Animal Control officer and Frank's (Joel McHale) new partner"; with Palmer as Victoria Sands, "the hedonistic free spirit of the Animal Control officers"; Dee as Templeton Dudge, "an Animal Control officer from a neighboring precinct with a real chip on his shoulder"; Ogmundson as Dolores Stubb, "the receptionist at the Animal Control precinct"; and August as Dr. Summers, "the Animal Control veterinarian. Frank (McHale) has been crushing on her for months, but this vet happens to be a huge fan of winter sports and is wowed by Shred (Rowland)." (Deadline.com)
DC'S STARGIRL (The CW) - The network is pulling the plug on the series following its current third season. "Stargirl has always held a special place in my heart for many reasons," creator Geoff Johns said in a statement. "With all the brewing changes at the network, we were aware this was possibly the last season, so we wrote with that in mind and have delivered what I believe to be the best season of Stargirl yet, with complete creative closure. The cast and crew are extraordinary, and I'd like to thank them for helping me bring this series to life. Brec embodied Courtney in every way possible - with grace, strength and humor - exceeding my wildest expectations. I am grateful to WBTV and The CW for giving us a home to tell this story and to honor my beloved late sister, and I'm beyond thankful to the press and fans who have always championed us for three amazing seasons. Most series never get this far. We couldn't be more proud of our show and the fan community it's built." (Deadline.com)
DELI BOYS (Hulu) - Poorna Jagannathan has been cast in the comedy pilot as Lucky, "Baba's right-hand woman. She can be very caring or a badass business boss lady, depending on what's needed." (Deadline.com)
GIRLS ON THE BUS, THE (HBO Max) - Mark Consuelos is slated to recur on the newcomer as "a major Hollywood action star-turned-politician who joined the presidential race after a Twitter poll said 46 percent of Americans would vote for him - regardless of party affiliation." (Deadline.com)
GOSSIP GIRL (HBO Max) - Grace Duah's Shan Barnes will return as a regular for the show's upcoming second season, premiering December 1. (Deadline.com)
OTHER BLACK GIRL, THE (Hulu) - Sinclair Daniel, Ashleigh Murray, Brittany Adebumola and Hunter Parrish are the first to be cast in the drama series. Daniel will play Nella, "a bookish horror fan who is inclined to be a people-pleaser at the start of the season"; with Murray as Hazel-May McCall, "an unapologetically Black and Harlem-cool assistant"; Adebumola as Malaika, "an old lady at heart who is queer and constantly comparing notes on life goals"; and Parrish as Owen, "Nella's family-oriented boyfriend of three years who works as a middle school principal." (Deadline.com)
PENGUIN, THE (HBO Max) - Cristin Milioti is set to star opposite Colin Farrell in The Batman spin-off series. She'll play Sofia Falcone, "daughter of Carmine Falcone, who was played by John Turturro in the film. Sofia is fighting with The Penguin (Farrell) for control of the city." (Deadline.com)
UPSHAWS, THE (Netflix) - Jermelle Simon's Bernard Upshaw, Jr. will be promoted to regular for the series' recently ordered third season. (Deadline.com)
WONDER MAN (Disney+) - Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been tapped for the title role of the Marvel Studios series. He'll presumably play Simon Williams in the project however no plot specifics have been released. (Deadline.com)
