By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

AVALON (ABC) - The Alphabet has passed on David E. Kelley's latest series despite a straight-to-series order. Said decision came after producers delivered the pilot episode. A+E Studios and 20th Television will look to shop the project elsewhere. Alexa Mansour, Demetrius Grosse, Neve Campbell, Roslyn Ruff and Steven Pasquale were among the principal cast. (Deadline.com)
HILSONS, THE (CBS, New!) - Actor/writer Malik Sanon has sold a multi-camera comedy to the Eye about "a mother and her two adult sons thought they knew each other until they are forced to live under the same roof for the first time in more than twenty years and discover they have all been keeping secrets from one another. Now, this seemingly loving family must learn to live together again and accept each other for who they are, and not who they were pretending to be." Aaron Kaplan and Melanie Frankel of Kapital Entertainment, Wendi Trilling of TrillTV, Cedric the Entertainer and Eric Rhone of A Bird and A Bear Entertainment and Peter Principato and Kevin Parker of Artists First will also executive produce for CBS Studios. (Deadline.com)
LIFE, CHANGING (NBC, New!) - D.J. Nash has booked a new drama at the network which "follows a couple over 25 years as they share moments in life, both good and bad, that change them forever." Dana Honor of Defining Eve Productions will also executive produce the project, which has a penalty attached, for Universal Television. (Deadline.com)
PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS (Disney+) - Jay Duplass and Timothy Omundsen will both drop by the Rick Riordan adaptation. Duplass will play Hades, the god of the Underworld: "Hades feels like an outcast from his family and a misunderstood genius. He holds a grudge for past wrongs and plays his cards close to the chest." And Omundson is Hephaestus, the god of blacksmiths: "Hephaestus became disabled when he was thrown off Mount Olympus as a babe. Despite that, his strength is legendary, and his capacity for kindness and mercy sets him apart from his brothers and sisters in the dog-eat-dog world of the gods." (Variety.com)
ULTRA VIOLET & BLACK SCORPION (Disney Channel) - The cable channel has nixed the newcomer after one season. (TVLine.com)
