DEPARTMENT Q (Netflix, New!) - Left Bank Pictures has scored a series order from the streamer for an adaptation of Jussi Adler-Olsen's novels about Carl, "a former top-rated detective who is wracked with guilt following an attack that left his partner paralyzed and another policeman dead. LOVE & MURDER: ATLANTA PLAYBOY (BET+, New!) - Taye Diggs will topline a true crime film series at the streamer based on Ron Stodghill's book "Redbone: Money, Malice and Murder in Atlanta": "Atlanta Playboy follows Lance (Diggs), a successful Atlanta businessman, renowned in equal measure for both revolutionizing the city's 911 system, and his womanizing ways. When he is found murdered in his own home, questions and allegations abound as to who might have wanted him dead. An investigation into the murder is launched which reveals the truths and suspicions behind Lance's professional and personal life. Was it a business rival, threatened by Lance's bid for a big contract? Was it a scorned lover jealous of the place occupied in Lance's bed? The film, much like the book, reconstructs Lance's life as told by the various players in it." Courtney Miller will direct from a script by Gregory R. Anderson for Swirl Films and Monami Productions with Mona Scott-Young, Stephanie R. Gayle, Abbey MacDonald and Eric Tomosunas executive producing. Stodghill, Lorisa Bates and Marvin Neil will co-executive produce while Ron Robinson, Keith Neal, Brian Rikuda and Devin Griffin are producers and John Baldasare and Noelle Broussard are consulting producers. (Deadline.com)
RED TABLE TALK (Facebook Watch) - The talk show has been canceled as part of the service's pivot away from original programming. Other recent presumably nixed entries mentioned in the piece include "Red Table Talk: The Estefans," "Steve on Watch" and "Piece of Mind with Taraji." (Deadline.com)
VANDA (Hulu, New!) - Patricia Muller's crime heist drama series has found a U.S. home on Hulu. Gabriela Barros, João Baptista, Pedro Casablanc, Raúl Prieto and Joana de Verona star in the eight-episode project, detailed as follows: "In the middle of the 2008 global financial crisis, Vanda finds herself alone and broke, with two children to raise. She embarks on a string of bank heists using a blonde wig and a toy gun and, in the process, becomes a folk hero." José Amaral, Elisa Lleras, Pablo Gómez-Castro and Anne Thomopoulos are the executive producers for Legendary, SPi and La Panda. Simão Cayatte directed from scripts by Muller and Carmen Jimenez.
