HBO Max gives the green light to the new original series produced in Spain CUANDO NOS VE NOS VE, directed by Enrique Urbizu

HBO Max has announced today the green light and the start of production on eight fifty-minute episodes of the new Max Original series CUANDO NOS VE NOS VE , based on the novel of the same name by Sergio Sarria, published by Espasa. Daniel Corpas leads the scriptwriting team, with the collaboration of Arturo Ruiz and Isa Sánchez. Enrique Urbizu ('There will be no peace for the wicked', 'La caja 507') will direct the eight episodes and it will be produced by Zeta Studios for Warner Bros. Discovery in Spain.

With the celebration of Holy Week as a shocking backdrop, CUANDO NOS VE NOS is a thriller starring two policewomen who try to solve a series of crimes in a unique place: the political and cultural border of the so-called "Deep Spain". and one of the largest US military bases abroad.

CUANDO NOS VE VE is the first Spanish-produced series announced for Max, Warner Bros. Discovery's enhanced streaming service that combines all of HBO Max and the best of discovery+ content on a single platform. Max is currently available in the US and will arrive in Latin America later this year, before launching in 22 European countries that currently offer HBO Max, including Spain, in early 2024.

The series is based on the homonymous novel by Sergio Sarria, published by Espasa. Daniel Corpas is the scriptwriter for the series, with the collaboration of Arturo Ruiz and Isa Sánchez, and director Enrique Urbizu will direct the eight episodes. The series will be shot mainly in Morón de la Frontera and other places in Andalusia and Madrid.

Morón de la Frontera, Holy Week 2023. A town in the interior of Andalusia, southern Spain, located next to the US Army air base. Lucía Gutiérrez is a sergeant of the Civil Guard who is investigating the unusual suicide of a neighbor and some strange events that occurred in the first Holy Week procession. Magaly Castillo is a special agent of the military police of the United States Army sent to the Morón de la Frontera base to find out the whereabouts of a missing American soldier who seems to be related to the hidden business of Colonel Douglas Hoopen, head of the area base, and with a shady marine, Lieutenant Andrew Taylor.They will immediately discover that both investigations are connected, that the case is more complex than they had initially supposed, and that it involves both residents of Morón and American soldiers from the nearby base.

CUANDO NOOS VE NOS SEE is for me a first and exciting foray into the detective television series, pure investigation. Two women as different as our protagonists Lucía and Magaly, one of the Civil Guard and the second of the American Military Police, share mysteries, dangers and confidences. As much for the tone as for the rhythm, this is a new adventure for me", explains the director Enrique Urbizu.
