"Babylon Berlin" Season 5 in Development

BABYLON BERLIN SEASON 5 IN DEVELOPMENT

Babylon Berlin continues: ARD Degeto, X-Filme Creative Pool, and Beta Film have commissioned the development of the 5th season. The 40-hour series, sold by Beta to more than 140 territories, has celebrated a sweeping success all over the world with more than 55 million digital views on Germany's ARD mediathek alone. The fourth season will be broadcast on ARD this fall.

Directed by Tom Tykwer, Achim von Borries, and Henk Handloegten, and starring Liv-Lisa Fries and Volker Bruch, Babylon Berlin has become the epitome of high-end drama made in Germany with an immense international impact, praised by international media as "fabulous and stunning" (THE GUARDIAN), "dark, flashy, and addictive" (NPR), and "the most bingeable new drama since 'The Crown'"(VOGUE).

The series delivers an atmospheric portrayal of 1920's Berlin, the world's most exciting city in the Roaring Twenties, as Inspector Gereon Rath and his partner Charlotte investigate in this a hotbed of crime and politics, sex and drugs, emancipation and extremism.

The series has collected numerous awards, among them the inaugural European Achievement in Fiction Series Award at the European Film Awards, four German Television Awards, the Grand Prize at the Seoul International Drama Awards, the Austrian Television Award ROMY as "TV Event of the Year", the Premios Ondas in Spain, as well as the Magnolia Award of the Shanghai TV Festival, the most important TV festival in Asia, and many more.
