BETHENNY FRANKEL SET TO MAKE LIFETIME ACTING DEBUT IN NEW ORIGINAL MOVIE "DANGER IN THE DORM" AS PART OF NETWORK'S RIPPED FROM THE HEADLINES SUMMER SLATE

ALSO STARRING CLARA ALEXANDROVA, MOVIE IS INSPIRED BY TRUE CRIME WRITER ANN RULE'S STORY OF THE SAME NAME

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 28, 2024) - Lifetime announces casting for the new original movie Danger in the Dorm, inspired by true crime novelist Ann Rule's story of the same name, as the latest movie to join Lifetime's library of Ann Rule titles. TV personality, entrepreneur, author, and philanthropist Bethenny Frankel is set to star, marking her Lifetime movie acting debut alongside Clara Alexandrova (A Million Little Things). Danger in the Dorm tells the story of a quiet college campus that is terrorized by a killer after an honor student is murdered. Currently in production, Danger in the Dorm will debut this summer as part of the Lifetime's summer Ripped From the Headlines movie slate.

"In my 20s I briefly attempted acting and was shocked to be asked to immerse myself in such a significant role. My greatest takeaway is to recognize the thankless hard work that the cast and crew input every day. It exceeded my wildest imagination and I watch tv and movies differently now. Cold outdoor scenes and 13-hour days are the norm. It was an incredible experience that I'm grateful to have been afforded. This embarks another possible new chapter in my 50s. As if being an accidental influencer wasn't enough... . I'm not worthy!," said Bethenny Frankel.

"It's an absolute thrill to collaborate with Bethenny. Her dedication and talent breathe life into every scene," said director Robin Hays. "Watching her bring depth and authenticity to the character is a reminder of why I fell in love with storytelling in the first place. I can't wait for people to see this film!"

Inspired by one of Ann Rule's earliest true crime works, Danger in the Dorm, tells the story of Kathleen (Clara Alexandrova) after the tragic murder of her childhood best friend and fellow classmate, Becky. Now, she must shed her rebellious youthful spirit in order to catch a killer who's preying on young girls around campus, even as her mother, Joanne (Bethnney Frankel), tries to protect Kathleen from suffering the same fate as her friend.

Danger in the Dorm is executive produced by Howard Braunstein, Conor Allyn, Benjamin Anderson and Ilene Kahn Powers. Robin Hays directs from a script written by Benjamin Anderson.

Known for diving deep in the psyche of killers and victims, other Ann Rule novels that have become Lifetime movies include Too Late to Say Goodbye, featuring Rob Lowe; Hunt for the I-5 Killer starring John Corbett, Everything She Ever Wanted with Gina Gershon, and Capture of the Green River Killer headlined by Tom Cavanagh. More recent titles include Sleeping With Danger starring Elisabeth Rohm, A Murder to Remember directed by Robin Givens, A Rose For Her Grave featuring Chrishell Stause, A House On Fire with Stephanie March, 12 Desperate Hours directed by Gina Gershon, and Circle Of Deception directed by Ashley Williams.
