LOS ANGELES-April 24,2024-Multi-talented actor and comedian Marlon Wayans returns to the stage with his newest comedy special for Prime Video, Marlon Wayans: Good Grief. The one-hour special will premiere in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide on June 4, 2024.
Marlon Wayans: Good Grief showcases Wayans' unique brand of comedy, blending physical humor and hilarious commentary, with a surprising amount of heart. Taped at the iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem, comedy meets therapy as Wayans works through his grief after recently losing both of his parents. He shares how his father taught him to be a man, the requirements to join the "Dead Mama Club," the surprises you encounter when changing your aging parents' diapers, and who is the funniest Wayans.
Marlon Wayans: Good Grief is produced by Marlon Wayans and Rick Alvarez's Ugly Baby Productions and Amazon MGM Studios. Marlon Wayans, Rick Alvarez, Michael Rotenberg, Steve Harris, Craig Wayans and Troy Miller serve as executive producers.
Wayans and Rick Alvarez launched Ugly Baby Productions in 2013 with the goal of producing filmed entertainment, with an entrepreneurial spirit, that reaches large global audiences. About Marlon Wayans:
Marlon Wayans is a successful actor, producer, comedian, writer, and film director. As a stand-up comedian, he is selling out venues nationwide and adding shows every weekend. He hit a career milestone with his highly anticipated first stand-up comedy special, Woke-ish, which premiered on Netflix in February 2018.
His latest comedy special for Max, Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me, received rave reviews from critics and fans. His overall deal with Max included performing a stand-up special and hosting a multi-act special which resulted in Marlon Wayans: You Know What It Is and Marlon Wayans Presents: The Headliners.
Recent credits include starring as George Raveling in Prime Video's, AIR, alongside an all-star ensemble including Matt Damon, Viola Davis, and Ben Affleck. In 2022, he starred in and produced Netflix's The Curse of Bridge Hollow. In 2021, he starred as Ted White in MGM's Aretha Franklin biopic, Respect, opposite Jennifer Hudson. The year prior, he starred in Sofia Coppola's Apple-A24 movie On the Rocks, alongside Rashida Jones and Bill Murray.
