Netflix announces Salvador, a new series created by Aitor Gabilondo and starring Luis Tosar and Claudia Salas

Netflix has announced today Salvador, its new drama series created by Aitor Gabilondo and starring Luis Tosar (Celda 211, Los favoritos de Midas) and Claudia Salas (Élite, Cerdita). The shooting of this new project, directed by Daniel Calparsoro, will take place in Madrid and will begin in September.

Salvador tells the story of a father who discovers that his daughter belongs to a neo-Nazi group, which he must approach in order to try to rescue her and understand what led her there. During a violent confrontation arranged between the radical fans of two football clubs, Salvador Aguirre, an ambulance driver, rescues his daughter Milena, injured and a member of the ultra group, which defends racist, violent, and homophobic values, completely opposed to those he instilled in her.

'We present Salvador in a socio-cultural context where many extremist debates that seemed to have been overcome are being revived. Luis Tosar embodies the bewilderment of the reasons that lead many young people to feel attracted to a far-right group in the face of his own daughter's drift, and he wonders what has happened and what he can do. This project tackles issues such as immigration, extremism, crime, and lack of future. Salvador also fulfills my long-standing desire to work with Daniel Calparsoro, whom I have known since his short film WC and whose stark yet compassionate view fits so well with the story of Salvador. To complete the dream, I will have the opportunity to work with Luis Tosar, the most fascinating sad energy in Spanish cinema', explains Aitor Gabilondo.

Produced by Alea Media, Aitor Gabilondo (El silencio, Entrevías, Patria) will act as executive producer of the series, which will be directed by Daniel Calparsoro (Hasta el cielo: la serie, Asalto al banco central).
