Amsterdam, October 14, 2024 - Netflix is gearing up for a significant expansion into the Dutch market in 2025 with an array of new films and series. This announcement was made at the Next on Netflix event in Amsterdam, hosted by Elise Schaap, where attendees were treated to a preview of what's to come. Among the highlights is Netflix's first Dutch reality series, featuring Yolanthe Cabau as she shares insights into her life. Additionally, a series adaptation of the bestselling novel "The Dinner Club" by Saskia Noort is in the works. The event also provided updates on previously announced projects set to debut in 2025, such as the female-led cast of "Haantjes," which includes Jennifer Hoffman, Jelka van Houten, Fockeline Ouwerkerk, Eva Laurenssen, and Frouke Verheijde. Alongside these local productions, popular international series like "The Night Agent," "Wednesday," "Black Mirror," and "Stranger Things" are also slated to make a return in 2025.

First Dutch reality series with Yolanthe Cabau

In Yolanthe, Netflix's first Dutch reality series, Yolanthe Cabau leaves the Dutch spotlights for a new beginning in Los Angeles with her son Xess Xava. As she faces her past, we discover why she left the limelight and which childhood secrets continue to haunt her. Can she make room for new love, and what does daily life in LA bring her? This series, produced by NewBe, offers more than a fleeting glance. It is a journey of discovery into Yolanthe's story, full of surprises and personal growth.

Yolanthe Cabau: "I made a conscious decision to step out of the spotlight for a while to focus on myself and Xess. The past few years have been challenging, but I can confidently say that I am more empowered than ever. I offer an honest glimpse into my life as a mother, actress, and entrepreneur, as well as my mission with Free A Girl. Through this, I hope to inspire others."

Series based on The Dinner Club by Saskia Noort

Netflix has announced a new project: a series based on Saskia Noort's bestseller The Dinner Club. The screenplay is by Dorien Goertzen, who is known for Nieuwe Buren and Swanenburg.

Saskia Noort: "I am incredibly proud that my story is getting a new life on Netflix. The Dinner Club is one of my most beloved books, and the idea that it is now coming to life as a series is a dream come true. I can't wait to see how the characters and stories are brought to the screen."

The beloved cast, including Pommelien Thijs, Willem De Schryver, Eliyha Altena and Anna Drijver, returns for even more drama, romance and adventure on the Belgian coast. The new season follows Louise, Daan and Alex searching for love and recognition. Will Louise choose Daan, Alex, or herself? Can they escape their corrupt world? And will their parents get the punishment they deserve now that Alex's grandmother intervenes?

Amsterdam Empire

Another title that will be released next year is Amsterdam Empire, featuring Famke Janssen as Betty, Jacob Derwig as her husband Jack, and Elise Schaap as journalist Marjolein Hofman. Jack van Doorn, the rich and notorious founder of the coffee shop empire Jackal, has had to fight his entire career against criminals, competitors, and absurd Dutch laws to become the biggest of them all. When his affair with a well-known journalist comes to light, it turns out that his most dangerous enemy has been living under his roof all this time: his betrayed wife, Betty (Famke Janssen), an ex-pop diva who knows all his weak spots and secrets and will not rest until she has taken everything from him.

Amsterdam Empire is an extravagant crime drama full of glamour and grime at the heart of the Amsterdam cannabis scene. The seven-part series is written and created by Nico Moolenaar, Piet Matthys, and Bart Uytdenhouwen, known for Undercover and Ferry.

Football Parents

The comedy series Football Parents, written by Ilse Warringa and directed by Ilse Warringa and Albert Jan van Rees, offers a hilarious look at how a group of over-enthusiastic parents interfere with their children's football performances. We follow Lillian and her son Levi, who is new to the team. Lillian wants to escape from the pushy parents, especially Marenka, the last person you want to meet on a Saturday morning. However, Levi stays and becomes friends with Vito, the most eccentric child and, coincidentally, Marenka's son.

Ilse Warringa is also part of the cast, together with Eva van Gessel, Mariana Aparicio, Michiel Nooter, Edwin Jonker, Bas Hoeflaak, Guido Pollemans, Leonoor Koster, Nyncke Beekhuyzen, Arnoud Bos, Gurkan Küçüksentürk, Evrim Akyigit, Rian Gerritsen, Steef Cuijpers and René van 't Hof.

Bad Boa's

In Bad Boa's Ramon (Jandino Asporaat), a dedicated special investigating officer determined to make his Rotterdam neighbourhood safer, is forced to work with Jack (Werner Kolf), a reckless ex-detective temporarily demoted to Ramon's team after an incident. While these opposites must work together, they eventually discover they have more in common than they expected: the loss of a loved one who was murdered. As Ramon and Jack become a dream team, they do everything they can to track down the perpetrator, leading to several major discoveries...

FERRY 2 available from December 20, 2024

For Netflix fans who don't want to wait until 2025, there's good news: the film FERRY 2, starring Frank Lammers, Huub Smit, and Aiko Mila Beemsterboer, will be available from December 20, 2024. Today, the first images have been released. In FERRY 2, we see how Ferry has lost everything and now leads a reclusive life, far away from Brabant. Although everything seems to be going well at first glance, everything changes when Ferry's second cousin, Jezebel van Kamp, asks him for help, burdening Ferry with a heavy conscience. Ferry knows that one secret must never come to light: his involvement in the murder of Jezebel's father, Jurgen. The stakes are high, and the truth weighs heavily on Ferry's shoulders...

Antoinette Beumer, Director of Scripted & Non-Scripted Original Series at Netflix, exclaims, "We are thrilled to unveil an incredible lineup of productions for the Benelux! From our groundbreaking first Dutch reality series featuring Yolanthe Cabau to the lavish crime drama Amsterdam Empire, we are committed to delivering local stories that captivate and resonate with our audience. These projects, though diverse in nature, share a unique and authentic essence that we're proud to bring to life. Our excitement for these captivating productions is boundless, and we can hardly wait for 2025 to share them with the world!"

In addition to all the local titles, major international films and series are also planned for 2025. The long-awaited seventh season of Black Mirror and the second season of The Night Agent and Wednesday will be available on Netflix next year. The popular feel-good series Emily in Paris will also get a new season, and fans can enjoy the very last season of Stranger Things.

2025 also promises to be a memorable year for sports documentaries, with new seasons of Drive to Survive, Six Nations, Full Swing, and the second season of America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Furthermore, in 2025, Netflix will become the exclusive home of RAW and all WWE shows and specials outside the US, including SmackDown, NXT, and Premium Live Events like WrestleMania.
