ACTOR GARY COLEMAN'S EX-WIFE SHANNON PRICE TAKES POLYGRAPH TO ADDRESS HIS DEATH IN SPECIAL TWO-HOUR PREMIERE OF A&E'S NEW SERIES "LIE DETECTOR: TRUTH OR DECEPTION" PREMIERING JULY 10 AT 9PM ET/PT
SERIES FEATURES VETERAN JOURNALIST TONY HARRIS AND FORMER FBI AGENT AND POLYGRAPH EXAMINER GEORGE OLIVIO
New York, NY - June 16, 2025- A&E's new series "Lie Detector: Truth or Deception" examines individuals long suspected of serious crimes who voluntarily submit to taking a polygraph test hoping to clear their names in the eyes of their family and community. "Lie Detector: Truth or Deception" is hosted by award-winning investigative journalist Tony Harris, who brings critical context and analysis drawn from his background in criminal justice reporting, and the results of a professionally administered lie detector test by George Olivo, Former FBI agent and veteran polygraph examiner. The series premieres Thursday, July 10th at 9pm ET/PT with a special two-hour premiere followed by new episodes Thursdays at 10pm ET/PT beginning July 17th.
The two-hour premiere spotlights the controversial 2010 death of famed actor, Gary Coleman, which has fueled years of speculation. Coleman's ex-wife Shannon Price agrees to take a polygraph test to address persistent public suspicion regarding her potential involvement in his death, even though she was never charged in connection with it. The episode revisits the circumstances surrounding Coleman's passing and explores whether Price has been misjudged by public opinion - or whether the results raise new questions.
Additional episodes in the seven-episode series will explore other gripping cases answering unresolved questions that continue to haunt those involved. Matheau Moore, acquitted in 2022 of murdering his wife Emily Noble, takes a polygraph in hopes of silencing persistent suspicions - even from those close to the case. Edward Ates, who spent 20 years in prison for the murder of a neighbor he insists he didn't commit, seeks to clear his name once and for all. Jesse Holton, accused of killing his parents in 2016 but never tried due to lack of evidence, undergoes a high-stakes test to end the cloud of suspicion. In each case, the lie detector test is administered offering expert insight into whether the truth has finally come to light - or if new doubts will emerge.
A&E found success last year with its provocative special "Casey Anthony's Parents: The Lie Detector Test," which revisited one of the most controversial criminal cases in recent history.
"Lie Detector: Truth or Deception" is produced by York & Wilder for A&E Network. Matt Sprouse serves as executive producer for York & Wilder with Mike Saffran as executive in charge of production. Elaine Frontain Bryant, Shelly Tatro and Brad Abramson serve as executive producers for A&E.
Series will be available on demand and to stream on the A&E App and aetv.com
