June 30, 2025 - Survival Mode, an all-new weekly limited series produced by NBC News Studios, premieres Monday, July 7 at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT on NBC. Across nine episodes, the series chronicles some of the most recent devastating disasters - including the Maui wildfires, the Amtrak 501 derailment, Superstorm Sandy, and the sinking of the Costa Concordia - through firsthand accounts from survivors and rare archival footage.
Each episode offers an in-depth look at how ordinary people, alongside first responders and loved ones, faced extraordinary circumstances.
Monday's premiere features three groups of residents in Fort Myers Beach - a mother and her parents, four close neighbors, and a group of boaters anchored just offshore - who chose to stay and face Hurricane Ian, the deadliest storm to strike Florida in a generation.
