"Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues" Launches August 1 Worldwide on Prime Video

Documentary series, produced by Steven Knight, Matt Alvarez, Religion of Sports, and Whisper, follows players, staff, and owners of Birmingham City during record-breaking 2024/25 season

American football legend and minority owner Tom Brady stars, as club fights to instill winning culture

NEW YORK - July 10, 2025 - Today, Prime Video released the official trailer for the exhilarating UK Original documentary series Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues, which will launch exclusively on Prime Video in over 200 countries worldwide on Friday, August 1st, with all five episodes available immediately. Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues is the latest addition to the Prime membership. Prime members enjoy savings, convenience, and entertainment all in a single membership.

In the first footage revealed today, Blues fans set the scene for the club's urgent need for transformation, explaining that, "Birmingham City have been the pioneers in f*****g up games of football from 1875." The five-part docuseries tells the authentic tale of a club accustomed to sporting heartbreak, who are rebuilt to win, with American football legend Tom Brady laying out their new mission statement: "We're trying to make this a world-class team." Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues follows that journey, as a new ownership group suffer relegation and multiple managerial changes en route to a record-breaking season, which delivered automatic promotion to the EFL Sky Bet Championship.

Embedded camera crews have followed the First-Team players, coaching staff, and key ownership figures, including Birmingham City's Head Coach Chris Davies, Chairman Tom Wagner, Co-Founder and Co-Managing Member of Knighthead Capital Management, LLC ("Knighthead"), and minority owner Tom Brady, as the club fights to instill a winning culture and climb the English football pyramid. The project was conceived by Tom Brady and Religion of Sports co-founder Gotham Chopra, following Brady joining as minority owner of Birmingham City in 2023.

Beyond the day-to-day football operations, Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues will also explore the unique cultural heritage of Birmingham City and a supporter base who have remained loyal despite a sustained period without success or silverware. The documentary will shine a spotlight on this community's resurgence, illustrating how the football club plans to drive its transformation.

Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues will be executive produced by Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders and a lifelong Blues fan. Knight will bring his deep connection to the Club and storytelling expertise to the project, ensuring a genuine portrayal of Birmingham City's transformation. Matt Alvarez (Straight Outta Compton, Are We There Yet?, Straight Outta LA, the Friday franchise) of Knighthead and Board member of the Club will serve as an executive producer. The documentary will be produced by Religion of Sports (Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, In the Arena: Serena Williams, Kobe Bryant's Muse) and Whisper (Sven, Ben Stokes: Phoenix from the Ashes).

The series will be co-directed by Gotham Chopra and Claudia Corbisiero (Sven), bringing a cinematic and in-depth perspective to Birmingham City's story. Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues is Tom Brady's third major project in collaboration with Religion of Sports' Chopra. Following the success of Tom vs. Time and Man in the Arena, this latest series offers a fascinating parallel, showcasing how Tom Brady's perspective and role have evolved as a team owner, a broadcaster, and a father. It also provides a unique opportunity to discuss his journey and broader themes of competition, business, and human connection.
