Rodrigo Santoro, Bruno Mazzeo, and Lucas Agrícola will star in Brasil 70 - A Saga do Tri, a scripted Netflix miniseries about the 1970 World Cup, and filming is underway
São Paulo, July 17, 2025 - Rodrigo Santoro (João Saldanha), Bruno Mazzeo (Zagallo) and Lucas Agrícola (Pelé) are set to star in Brasil 70, A Saga do Tri, a new miniseries from Netflix and O2 Filmes that covers the journey of Brazil's soccer team en route to its third championship at the 1970 World Cup.
Filming has already begun in cities in Brazil and Mexico. Although a release date has not yet been set, the miniseries will be an immersive re-creation of standout plays and behind-the-scenes moments that helped establish the legacy of one of the best teams to ever play soccer. It will be a an exploration of the challenges, emotions, and fears faced by players such as Pelé, Tostão, Félix, Carlos Alberto, Jairzinho, Gérson, and Rivellino, as well as managers Saldanha and Zagallo, both before and during the tournament. The story unfolds during a key moment not only in soccer history, but also in Brazilian political history, as the country endured the most difficult phase of its military dictatorship. While demonstrating their brilliance on the field, the team handles the intense pressure of representing their entire country.
The series is directed by Paulo Morelli and Pedro Morelli, with Quico Meirelles also directing several episodes. It was created by Naná Xavier and Rafael Dornellas. Paulo Morelli and Pedro Morelli are also producers, along with Cris Abi, and Guto Gontijo served as executive producer in development. The script was created by Felipe Sant'Angelo and Naná Xavier. The cast is rounded out by Marcelo Adnet (Eusébio Teixeira), Bruna Mascarenhas (Rosemeri), Gui Ferraz (Jairzinho), Ravel Andrade (Tostão), Maicon Rodrigues (Paulo Cézar Caju), Caio Cabral (Carlos Alberto), Daniel Blanco (Rivellino), Val Perré (Mário Américo), Lara Tremouroux (Rosa), Felipe Frazão (Leo), Fillipe Soutto (Gérson), Hugo Haddad (Félix), Victor Salomão (Dadá Maravilha) and José Beltrão (Parreira).
