NEW ABC NEWS STUDIOS DOCUSERIES:
"Capturing Their Killer: The Girls on the High Bridge" (Tuesday, Aug. 5)
In the bucolic town of Delphi, Indiana, 13-year-old Abigail Williams and 14-year-old Liberty German set out for a walk on a warm February afternoon in 2017 - and never came home. Their bodies were discovered the next day in a wooded area not far from the trail, setting off a five-year-long search that gripped the nation and haunted this close-knit community. But what set this case apart wasn't just the shocking brutality of the crime, but also the chilling piece of evidence found on Libby's phone.
The three-part series "Capturing Their Killer: The Girls on the High Bridge" is a wide-lensed view of the case that captured headlines and unraveled this tight-knit community, revisiting their trauma as the anxious public waited years for a break in the case. The series also explores the arrest of Richard Allen, a local man accused and convicted of the vicious murders in 2024. The case includes stunning claims, theories and bizarre evidence that set social media ablaze with ruled out alternative hypotheses and other possible suspects. The series features an exclusive interview with Kathy Allen, wife of Richard Allen, who shares her story and personal photos from her relationship with the convicted murderer; exclusive interviews with John Galipeau, the former Warden at Westville Correctional Facility, where Richard Allen was held; friends and family members of the victims; newly released interrogation footage and prison calls between Richard and Kathy; and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the defense's trial prep.
"Capturing Their Killer: The Girls on the High Bridge" is produced by Wheelhouse's Twist Media in association with Shakespeare Entertainment for ABC News Studios. Eamon McNiff is executive producer, and David Sloan serves as senior executive producer for ABC News Studios.
"Stalking Samantha: 13 Years of Terror" (Tuesday, Aug. 19)
When Samantha Stites - a bright, outgoing college freshman - met Christopher Thomas in 2011, an unsettling obsession took hold. For the next 11-year period, Christopher constantly stalked Samantha, sometimes stealthily and sometimes openly, showing up consistently where she went - restaurants, grocery stores, sporting events and more - until an early fall morning in 2022, when the harassment turned into something unimaginably dangerous. Christopher broke into her home, kidnapped and restrained her, and transported her to a soundproof bunker he had constructed in a storage unit near her Michigan home. Cut off from the outside world and completely alone, Samantha had to summon every ounce of strength to survive and escape.
In this gripping three-part docuseries, Samantha shares her story publicly for the first time, recounting more than a decade of fear, resistance and resilience. Featuring never-before-seen police interview footage, surveillance from the storage unit, and disturbing images and videos recovered from Christopher's phone, the series also includes powerful testimony from Samantha's friends and the investigators who helped bring her stalker to justice.
"Stalking Samantha: 13 Years of Terror" is produced by Bigger Bang for ABC News Studios. Beth Hoppe is executive producer, and David Sloan serves as senior executive producer for ABC News Studios. Iain Riddick is executive producer for Bigger Bang.
"Ruby Red Handed: Stealing America's Most Famous Pair of Shoes" (Tuesday, Aug. 26)
In August 2005, the world's most famous pair of shoes - a pair of ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in "The Wizard of Oz" - was stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in her hometown of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The case quickly made global headlines as the Grand Rapids Police Department and eventually the FBI worked to crack the case with little more than a single sequin left behind at the crime scene.
For the first time, "Ruby Red Handed: Stealing America's Most Famous Pair of Shoes" goes inside the wild, fast-paced story of how the case was ultimately cracked, culminating in the slippers being sold at auction for over $28 million, the most ever for memorabilia. Through exclusive access to the Grand Rapids police department filmed over the last eight years and exclusive elements and interviews with key players, this documentary takes viewers inside the story as it unfolds, bringing this caper to life often in ways so absurd it's hard to believe it actually happened. More than a true crime story, the series offers a fascinating look at the life and legacy of film and television icon Judy Garland, "The Wizard of Oz," and the history of Hollywood memorabilia on and off the black market.
"Ruby Red Handed: Stealing America's Most Famous Pair of Shoes" is produced by Committee Films for ABC News Studios. Eamon McNiff is executive producer, and David Sloan serves as senior executive producer for ABC News Studios. Maria Awes and Andy Awes are executive producers for Committee Films.
