Global Film Icons Shu Qi and Sinje Lee's Revenge Thriller Series 'The Resurrected' Premieres October 9

On October 9, Netflix presents the highly anticipated Chinese-language series The Resurrected, co-directed by acclaimed filmmakers Leste Chen (Eternal Summer) and Hsu Chao-jen (Living). Set in the aftermath of a high-stakes fraud and kidnapping case, the series follows two mothers who defy fate by resurrecting its notorious scam kingpin sentenced to death - embarking on a harrowing journey of vengeance, redemption, and the darkest corners of human nature.

The star-studded cast features international award-winning actresses Shu Qi (The Assassin, Three Times) and Sinje Lee (The Eye, The Garden of Evening Mists) in powerhouse lead roles, with a special appearance by Golden Horse-winning actress Alyssa Chia (At The Moment, Mom, Don't Do That!). Fu Meng-Po (Day Off, I Am Married... But!) delivers a chilling performance as the scam kingpin, joined by celebrated Thai actor Sukollawat Kanaros (Weir), Chung Hsin-ling, Caitlin Fang, Lin Ting-yi, Liu Chu-ping, Vivi Chen, Rexen Cheng and Patrick Nattawat Finkler, rounding out a dynamic ensemble for this revenge-driven thriller.

Shu Qi and Sinje Lee, both making their debut in a Chinese-language Netflix series, expressed their excitement. Shu Qi shared, "I'm really looking forward to it! When I first received the script, I felt it was a bold and groundbreaking story - not just for me as an actress, but also for Chinese-language series in general. I've already seen some rough cuts during dubbing, but when I saw the teaser, I still went, 'Wow!'"

Sinje Lee added, "I've never encountered a female-driven story that's so intense, a little wild, and deeply emotional. It was such a thrill to be a part of it, and of course, I'm even more excited for the day we get to share it with audiences around the world."

Fu Meng-po, who takes on a completely different role from his past performances as a cold-blooded villain, also expressed his enthusiasm: "The storyline is both fantastical and thrilling, and the moral conflicts between the characters are absolutely gripping."

In the newly released teaser, an oppressive, eerie tone captures the dark complexity of vengeance, testing the boundaries between justice and morality. As the mothers wrestle with whether resurrecting their enemy truly serves justice, the story delves into the painful costs of revenge and redemption.

Death row inmate Chang Shih-kai (Fu Meng-Po) is bound to the execution platform amid a tense, heavy atmosphere. His mother, Yueh-sin (Chung Hsin-ling), eerily smiles, while the victims' families, Wang Hui-chun (Shu Qi) and Chao Ching (Sinje Lee), watch coldly. As the execution concludes swiftly, Wang's reaction reveals the bitter anger and unresolved pain of a victim's family. Ironically, death seems less a punishment and more a release for Chang Shih-kai.

Through a mysterious resurrection ritual, Wang and Chao manage to bring Chang back to life - but only for seven days. During this limited time, Chang is no longer free and becomes a pawn in their merciless plan, subjected to harsh torment and judgment. As the clock ticks down, what fate awaits Chang in his temporary return?

The Resurrected premieres exclusively on Netflix on October 9, 2025.
