September 25, 2025 - Inspired by the first Swedish UN battalion in Bosnia in 1993, the award-nominated ensemble drama A Life's Worth(Trailer) follows a group of young peacekeepers and their commander as they are forced to struggle with the complexities of war and navigate the treacherous line between duty and humanity. Infused with high suspense, deep emotion, and life-or-death stakes, the Viaplay Original series A Life's Worth makes its exclusive U.S. debut on the acclaimed European/Nordic streamer Viaplay on Thursday, October 30, 2025, with weekly episodes through November 27.

Four Swedish rookie soldiers - Forss, Babic, Strand and Kilpinen -voluntarily venture into the heart of conflict in the Balkans - some driven by duty, others by the prospect of adventure. They are deployed for their first overseas service to the tangled, bloody conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where their mission is to secure the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians while staying neutral. However, it proves impossible to solve by peaceful means alone as a vicious cycle of atrocities and revenge between Bosnians and Croats threatens the stability of the Vareš region. Accompanying them is commander Andreasson, who is torn between the desire to intervene and the duty to follow orders. Beyond the violence that quickly shocks the inexperienced newcomers, the meaning of their mission is soon put to the test as their mandate binds them to neutrality and limits their room for action. Retaining humanity in a ravaged world becomes the ultimate challenge.

Inspired by true events and Magnus Ernström's novel "A Half Year, an Entire Life," A Life's Worth draws on firsthand accounts from UN soldiers and civilians during the Bosnian War, one of Europe's most devastating modern conflicts. The six-part landmark drama portrays young soldiers confronting the unknown and a population scarred by intra-ethnic violence. Rather than focusing on the mechanics of warfare, the series explores resilience, moral dilemmas, and bonds that form under fire, making it a deeply human and universally relevant story. It also captures the war's toll on civilians across ethnic and religious lines - disrupted lives, fractured families, and the emotional weight of loss.

Amid chaos, there is also hope, love, and light in the darkest moments. A Life's Worth tells of human brutality and impossible choices, but also of friendship, love, and trust.

A Life's Worth is directed by Ahmed Abdullahi (Top Dog) and written by Mona Masri (Snabba Cash, Copenhagen Cowboy) and Oliver Dixon (Paradis City, The Lawyer).
