New documentary series, Somewhat Familiar with Pedro Andrade, premieres October 21 on HBO Max

Hosted by journalist Pedro Andrade, the series produced by Tatiana Issa and Guto Barra showcases the influence of different cultures on parenting.

HBO Max premieres its new documentary series, SOMEWHAT FAMILIAR WITH PEDRO ANDRADE, on October 21st. Comprising eight 30-minute episodes, a new chapter will premiere every Tuesday on the streaming platform. The narrative explores how different situations and cultures influence family building and explores its diverse formations around the world, while also sharing the personal experience of Pedro Andrade, who realized his dream of becoming a father with his husband, Benjamin Thigpen.

Produced by Tatiana Issa and Guto Barra - the three-time Emmy winners behind A BRUTAL PACT: THE MURDER OF DANIELLA PEREZ - SOMEWHAT FAMILIAR WITH PEDRO ANDRADE follows the journalist's experiences during the fatherhood process, from fertilization to the pregnancy through a surrogate mother, also presenting the couple's daughter's, Isabel, first year of life. It also portrays the experiences and emotional encounters with parents around the world, including families from Italy, China, Japan, and the United States.

Through a vivid narrative, the series begins with Pedro and Benjamin's desire for parenthood, showcasing all the emotions, feelings, and challenges of this experience, and presenting the impacts not only on the couple's daily routine, but also on their family, cultural, and social environment. The episodes raise questions that redefine the concept of family, delving into different cultures and addressing relevant and emotional topics related to the process of raising children.

SOMEWHAT FAMILIAR WITH PEDRO ANDRADE is a documentary series co-produced by Warner Bros. Discovery and Producing Partners. Directed by Tatiana Issa and Gustavo Nasr, the series is produced by Emmy Award winners Tatiana Issa and Guto Barra, who also serve as artistic supervisors. Presented by Pedro Andrade, it is supervised by Sergio Nakasone, Adriana Cechetti, and Marina Pedral for Warner Bros. Discovery.
