HBO Max announces premiere of 'Madam Beja' for February 2nd

Romance, disputes, and secrets shape this reimagining of one of Brazil´s most emblematic stories, in a telenovela starring Grazi Massafera, David Junior, and André Luiz Miranda.

During the HBO Max Upfront presentation held this Tuesday, the 25th, the streaming platform announced the official release date of its new Brazilian telenovela, MADAM BEJA. The airing of episodes will begin on February 2nd, 2026, with weekly premieres of five episodes every Monday.

MADAM BEJA is a reimagining of the story televised in the 1980s about Ana Jacinta de São José, a historical figure from Minas Gerais. The narrative explores empowerment, desire, and revenge, revisiting the journey of the courtesan who defied conventions in Araxá, Minas Gerais. Famous for her beauty, intelligence, and political and social activism, Beja built a life marked by controversy, and the production revives social discussions that remain relevant today, engaging the audience in a plot rich in detail and historical setting.

The work highlights the struggle for freedom in a rigid and oppressive society, offering new layers to the character and reinforcing her legacy on female empowerment and inequality. To bring this universe to life, the production used a 1,000 m² set and filmed in locations such as Paraty and Lumiar, ensuring authenticity and grandeur to the work.

The stellar cast includes Grazi Massafera, David Junior and André Luiz Miranda, Pedro Fasanaro, Bianca Bin, Deborah Evelyn, Indira Nascimento, Bukassa Kabengele, Otavio Muller, Isabela Garcia, Erika Januza, Tuca Andrada, Kelzy Ecard, Werner Schunemann, Thalma de Freitas, Gabriel Godoy, Ricardo Burgos, Catharina Caiado, Lucas Wickhaus, Luciano Quirino, João Villa, Rita Pereira, Simone Mazzer, Isabelle Nassar, Nikolas Antunes, Eduardo Pelizzari, Arilson Lucas, Paulo Mendes and Miguel Rômulo, among others. It also features special appearances by Elizabeth Savalla, Othon Bastos, Elisa Lucinda, Virgílio Castelo and Lúcia Veríssimo.

MADAM BEJA is a telenovela produced by Floresta and licensed by Warner Bros. Discovery. Written by Daniel Berlinsky, António Barreira, and with the collaboration of Maria Clara Mattos, Cecília Giannetti, Clara Anastácia, and Ceci Alves. Directed by Hugo de Sousa and co-directed by Bia Coelho, João Boltshauser, Rogerio Sagui, Thiago Teitelroit, and Ana Angel. Executive production by Adriana Silva (Dida), Roberta Guzzon, and Tayane Saad on behalf of Floresta. The production is based on a synopsis developed by Renata Jhin , António Barreira and Daniel Berlinsky, a reinterpretation of the original work by Wilson Aguiar Filho. Production by Warner Bros. Discovery is supervised by Mariano César and Anouk Aaron.
