Netflix Confirms Production of 'The Dealer,' a High-Stakes Casino Crime Series With Producer Hwang Dong-hyuk

Netflix has confirmed production on its new Korean series The Dealer and unveiled its lead cast: Jung So-min, Ryoo Seung-bum, Lee Soo-hyuk, and Ryu Kyung-soo. The Dealer is a crime drama series that follows Geonhwa, a brilliant casino dealer whose wedding plans suddenly fall apart, forcing her to unleash her long-hidden powers and plunge into the dangerous world of gambling, in order to successfully make it down the aisle.

The ever-versatile Jung So-min (Love Reset, Alchemy of Souls, Love Next Door, Would You Marry Me?) transforms into Jung Geonhwa, revealing yet another side of herself that audiences have yet to see. An exceptionally adept and seasoned dealer who has lived a life far removed from the vices of the casino floor, Geonhwa finds her life upended when a housing scam derails her newlywed plans. Forced into the underworld she's avoided, she unleashes the full extent of her powers to the test.

Ryoo Seung-bum (Good News, Tazza: One Eyed Jack, The Berlin File) gives a unique performance as Hwang Chisu. Living hand to mouth, Chisu survives by gambling with whatever cash he can scrounge at casinos - until he joins Geonhwa's dangerous plan.

Lee Soo-hyuk (S Line, Queen Woo) joins the cast as Jo Jun, the casino player who turns the tables. Armed with razor-sharp skills and an impenetrable poker face, Jun dominates the casino tables, raising the tension at every turn.

Ryu Kyung-soo (The Bequeathed, JUNG_E, YADANG: The Snitch) steps into the role of Choi Wooseung - a detective and Geonhwa's fiancé. Gentle and affectionate with Geonhwa, Wooseung shows a very different side at work: a relentless detective who never lets a suspect slip away.

The Dealer marks the directorial debut of Choi Young-hwan, the acclaimed cinematographer behind many major hits such as Smugglers, Veteran, Tazza: The High Rollers and The Thieves. Widely praised for dynamic visuals that elevate genre storytelling, Choi is set to bring the glitz, tension and allure of the casino world to life. Alongside him, Firstman Studio, the production company behind the global phenomenon Squid Game is on board, with Squid Game director Hwang Dong-hyuk joining as producer to complete an exceptional veteran team.

Featuring a distinctive ensemble and backed by a lineup of veteran creators, The Dealer is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix.
