Nicolette van Dam and Bas Smit Present the Dutch Version of 'Love Is Blind'

Famous Dutch celebrity couple Nicolette van Dam and Bas Smit will host the Dutch edition of the popular reality dating series Love Is Blind. Netflix announced the news today. Love Is Blind debuted in the United States in 2020 and quickly grew into a global phenomenon, with local versions in countries including Brazil, Japan, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Mexico, Love Is Blind: Habibi, and Argentina. In this social experiment, participants search for true love based solely on emotional connection, without ever seeing each other. Love Is Blind: Netherlands is set to premiere on Netflix later this year.

Nicolette van Dam and Bas Smit: "When we were asked to host the very first Dutch version of Love Is Blind, we felt incredibly honored!" Bas: "Hosting a TV show was never my ambition, but Love Is Blind is hands down our entire family's favorite program. It's a beautiful, sincere show about real love. In a time when everyone is endlessly swiping based on looks, there's nothing more powerful than watching people fall in love with who someone truly is, without seeing them. That's what made me say yes immediately, as Nicolette's sidekick." Nicolette: "Love Is Blind is about genuine love and real connection. It's not about looks, status, or expectations, but about who you truly are. Getting to host a dream show like this together with the love of my life is unbelievably special."

In Love Is Blind, single men and women set out to find real, lasting love, without seeing each other. They date in so-called "pods" - rooms separated by a thin wall - where they build emotional connections over a short period of time. If the bond is strong enough, it can even lead to a proposal, before they ever meet face to face. Only after getting engaged do they finally see each other and begin life outside the pods. They move in together, plan their wedding, and discover whether their emotional connection can survive in the real world. In the end, at the altar, they must make the ultimate decision: do they say 'I do' and prove that love truly is blind - or do they choose to walk away and go their separate ways?
