ESPN presents Last Train to North America, a new documentary series premiering Tuesday, May 12, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN Deportes and ESPN2, with two new episodes debuting weekly. Hosted by ESPN's renowned journalist, Martin Ainstein, the nine-episode series follows a unique rail journey across the United States, Mexico and Canada as the three nations prepare to jointly host the biggest sporting event of the summer. The series will debut a new episode every Monday.
Produced by ESPN Originals, Last Train to North America takes viewers through some of the continent's most iconic host cities, exploring the cultures, communities and stories shaping the road to the 2026 World Cup. Through immersive train travel, the series explores how soccer connects people across borders languages and traditions.
Now in its fifth season, Last Train continues as a three-time Emmy-nominated documentary franchise produced around the world's biggest sporting events, including the World Cup and Olympic Games in Russia 2018, Japan 2020, Qatar 2022 and Paris 2024. The series combines sports journalism and immersive travel storytelling to spotlight the people, cultures and communities that give each host destination its identity.
The Last Train to North America is part of ESPN's special news and information coverage leading into the 2026 World Cup. ESPN will deliver extensive English- and Spanish-language news and information coverage of the tournament across its media platforms, bringing fans closer to the biggest storylines on and off the pitch.

Traveling south, the series visits Atlanta and Miami, two cities where culture, music and soccer passion converge.

Episode 5: Mexico City
The first stop in Mexico brings viewers to one of the world's great soccer capitals and a city preparing for another historic World Cup moment.
Episode 6: Guadalajara & Monterrey
The journey continues across Mexico with visits to Guadalajara and Monterrey, showcasing distinct traditions and deep-rooted soccer culture.

Episode 7: Houston, Dallas & Kansas City
Returning to the United States, the series explores three key host cities at the heart of America's growing soccer landscape.

Episode 9: Seattle & Vancouver
The final episode concludes in Seattle and Vancouver, celebrating the final stops of a cross-continental journey.
