AQUAMARINE (Disney Channel/Disney+, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a pilot for a TV take on the 2006 film starring Emma Roberts: "In the pilot, when teenaged Coral moves to a dreamy seaside town, she begins unraveling the truth behind her mother's disappearance - and discovers her mother was a mermaid, awakening magical powers in Coral just as secrets beneath the waves threaten to surface." Sarah Watson is behind the project, with Roberts (will reprise her role as Claire Brown from the film as a guest star), Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, and Susan Cartsonis also executive producing. BISHOP (Amazon) - Michael Uppendahl has been tapped to direct and executive produce the debut installment of the Joel Kinnaman-led drama series. (Deadline.com, 6/22)
BLUE MURDER MOTEL (Acorn TV, New!) - The streamer has acquired the New Zealand crime series, which is in production on its second season: "The series follows married couple Vinny and Cole, who leave their cop careers behind to run a motel in a sunny beachside New Zealand town. Events take an unexpected turn when a dead body is discovered. That sets the tone, as the retired detectives find themselves drawn into investigating crimes, with a new case in each episode." Michala Banas, Brett Tucker, Jayden Daniels, Stephanie Tauevihi, and Jaime McDermott star in the project, from creator Kate McDermott and Great Southern Television. (Deadline.com, 6/25)

CROSS (Amazon) - Ron Perlman will recur on the show's third season as Herschel Zamora, "who is a cop first and everything else second. Following a series of troubling work-related incidents, Officer Zamora is referred to Dr. Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge) for therapy. As Cross digs deeper, he realizes Zamora may be concealing something far more troubling than PTSD." (Deadline.com, 6/23)
DAD (Disney+, New!) - Clem Garritty has booked a comedy-drama series at the streamer: "DAD follows Sammy, Ned and Jess, whose lives are irreversibly changed when their father is accused of a historic murder committed during their childhood. They are forced back together to uncover the secrets buried deep within their family's past and in doing so, must confront the harsh and often uncomfortably hilarious realities of the present." EVERLASTING, THE (Netflix, New!) - Daphne Ferraro is spearheading a small screen take on Alix E. Harrow's novel at the streamer: "Sir Una Everlasting was Dominion's greatest hero: the orphaned girl who became a knight, who died for queen and country. Her legend lives on in songs and stories, in children's books and recruiting posters - but her life as it truly happened has been forgotten. Centuries later, Owen Mallory - failed soldier, struggling scholar - falls in love with the tale of Una Everlasting. Her story takes him to war, to the archives - and then into the past itself. Una and Owen are tangled together in time, bound to retell the same story over and over again, no matter what it costs. But that story always ends the same way. If they want to rewrite Una's legend - if they want to tell a different story - they'll have to rewrite history itself." GREAT WHITE, THE (Disney+, New!) - The streamer has acquired the six-part Australian drama series: ""The Great White" centers on brilliant but disgraced barrister Alan Armstrong, who finds himself representing a dog on death row in a case that sends him on an unexpected path toward becoming, as the synopsis puts it, "a much better human being." Hugo Weaving, Eamon Farren, Arlo Green, Miranda Otto, Sacha Horler, Brigid Zengeni, James Majoos, Emily Barclay, and Dinasha Perera star in the project, with Weaving, creator Ange Betzien, director Samantha Lang, Liz Watts, Emile Sherman, Iain Canning, Helen Gregory, and Rachel Okine executive producing for See-Saw Films. Alyssa McClelland and Simon Gillis serve as co-executive producers, with Angela Littlejohn producing and Libby Sharpe co-producing. (Variety.com, 6/25)

HOUSE RULES (Tubi, New!) - Laro Benz will host a game show at the streamer that features "two couples pitted against each other to see who really runs their house." Adding, "the show oversees couples competing across four high-stakes rounds built around the chaos of life at home." Benz and Wall of Entertainment's Joivan Wade, Percelle Ascott, and Jonny Paterson will executive produce the project, due on July 16. Wade and Ascott co-directed each episode. (Variety.com, 6/22)

RAINMAKER, THE (USA Network) - The show's sophomore season has added Richard Kind as Larry Shifflet, "the father to P. J. Byrne's Deck Shifflet"; Kevin Ryan as Liam Donnelly, "a corporate vice president with a secret agenda who goes up against Rudy and Deck"; and Asher DeLand as Victor Suffredes, "a tough but good-natured kid with a troubled past. Victor is described as a "casualty of the system" who lands in juvenile detention and enlists Rudy Baylor to help him fight back." (Variety.com, 6/23)
SEX CRIMINALS (Amazon) - Ayden Mayeri and Ashleigh Cummings have both boarded the comic book-turned-TV series. Mayeri will play Rachel, "Suze's best friend since middle school"; with Cummings as Charlene, "Jon's younger sister." (Deadline.com, 6/24)
SUBSTITUTE TEACHER (Tubi, New!) - Charles Brockman III will host a "character-driven comedy game show that fuses sketch comedy, youth culture and competition all wrapped into one" at the streamer. "Taking place in a high school classroom, the show plays contestants DangMattSmith, HeyTonyTV, Nia Ivy and Lauren Ashley Beck against each other as they compete across escalating rounds of trivia and physical challenges, earning points towards being named class Valedictorian." Brockman III and Wall of Entertainment's Joivan Wade, Percelle Ascott, and Jonny Paterson will executive produce the project, due on June 25. Wade and Ascott co-directed each episode. THUNDER ROAD (AMC) - Michael Rooker and Chase Stokes have signed onto the Dennis Quaid-led NASCAR drama series. Rooker will play Lucas, "the patriarch of the Farley family. Lucas is a tough-minded old buzzard. A lifetime of racing accidents and misadventure may have damaged his body, but it's left him with the iron will of a man half his age." And Stokes is set as Ronnie Whitlock, "who leads with an outlaw smile and a devil-may-care attitude, a fire burning within him. A rebel with a lead foot, he was a promising pro racer before his troublemaking got him bounced from the game and relegated to his cousin Trey's pit crew." (Deadline.com, 6/23)
TULISA: THE RECKONING (Paramount+, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a three-part docuseries which "will follow the former pop star and talent show judge as she reflects on her journey, from her humble beginnings to soaring success as the frontwoman for the band N-Dubz, her pivot to "X Factor" judge and the scandal that saw her career come crashing down." Dorothy Street Pictures is behind the project, due later this year. (Variety.com, 6/23)
UNTITLED YOUNG LEE SHAW PREQUEL SERIES (Apple TV) - Millie Brady and Pilou Asbaek will star opposite Wyatt Russell in the prequel series, which has also added JD Dillard as director of the debut installment. No details about their characters were given. (Deadline.com, 6/23)
WE WERE LIARS (Amazon) - The show's sophomore run has cast Riley Voelkel as Adult Yardley, "who is seen in the present day"; Madeleine Arthur as Young Yardley, "the Sinclair sisters' magnetic, worldly, and elegant-beyond-her-years cousin"; Jaelynn Thora Brooks as Erin Riegert, "a school friend, who was invited to visit the Sinclairs for the summer"; Layla Dougles as Rosemary, "the youngest Sinclair, Rosemary is curious, whimsical, and sassy"; Callan Potter as Gideon, "the most sought-after tennis coach on the island"; Aidan Shaw as George Bryce-Amory, "who hails from a well-heeled Texas oil family"; Shaun Sipos as Dean, "the life of the party, confident bordering on cocky"; and Brendon Tremblay as Jeremy "Major" Majorino, "a New Yorker with open-minded "hippie parents."" YOU DESERVE TO KNOW (Hulu, New!) - Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley are attached to star in a small screen take on Aggie Blum Thompson's novel at the streamer: "You Deserve To Know follows three suburban couples - next door neighbors and best friends. When one of their husbands is murdered, a shocking trail of secrets is revealed, and their friendship cracks wide open." Brian Tanen is spearheading the project with Dobrev, Wesley, Thompson, Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan, Mina Lefevre, and Aaron Kaplan also executive producing for Unwell, Kapital Entertainment, and 20th Television. YOUNG AMERICANS (Hulu, New!) - Chris Hutton and Eddie O'Keefe have scored a pilot order from the streamer: "In Young Americans, written and executive produced by Chris Hutton and Eddie O'Keefe (When the Streetlights Go On), as the children of the nation's elite battle it out at Capitol Crest Academy in Washington D.C., their teenage dramas begin to mirror the larger political games of their parents. Amidst the secrets, scandals, and deadly ambitions, a forbidden romance between two students from opposing political families threatens to escalate tensions to a breaking point."
