CALL OF THE WILD, THE (FX, New!) - The cable channel is developing a drama based on the January 2026 New Yorker article, which "details the work of a group of volunteers who support park rangers in rescuing visitors at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Known as BUSAR (Backcountry Unit Search and Rescue), the team of trained outdoor athletes assist in the search and rescue of park visitors who become lost or injured in remote areas." Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are the executive producers for Color Force, The New Yorker Studios, and FX Productions. No writer is currently attached. (Variety.com, 7/16)
CHICKS (Hulu) - Jodie Whittaker will star opposite Ellen Pompeo in the drama pilot as Doreen, "who is wiry and wired, as scrappy as they come, has worked every job under the sun, and is no stranger to a less-than-legal side hustles. But beneath her rough, wise-cracking exterior, she's a puppy dog, and all she really wants is to be seen by her big sister Chicks." (Deadline.com, 7/15)
CODE (Amazon, New!) - Writer/director Ed Lilly is developing a new drama at Amazon MGM Studios: "Code is set in the underground rave scene in London. Set in and around England's picturesque Peak District, the series follows Cooper, who is struggling to emerge from the shadow of his late father, while Fry is an outsider fleeing tragedies in her past. The actor "tore a bicep while doing a stunt on the show" and "has since undergone surgery and is now recovering."
